Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy 14 October 2013 Newsletter 8 Q1 Interim Assessment set to take place on Friday, October 18th Picture Days Students in A1, A2 or A3 PE, Yoga, or ROTC will take their photos on Tuesday, October 15th during the school day. Students must be in full school uniform. Coach Tollefson and Coach Mann take over Girls Basketball program. Rowe-Clark has named Coach Tollefson head girlsʼ basketball coach. Tollefson played varsity basketball in high school along with four years of competitive intramurals at the University of Wisconsin. He has also coached middle school boysʼ basketball here in Chicago for two years. After her volleyball season wraps up, Coach Mann will transition right to assistant girls basketball coach. Mann was a three-sport athlete – volleyball, basketball, and softball – in high school before focusing her attention to softball in college. She has coaching experience at the middle school, high school, and club levels. IMPORTANT DATES OCT 15 Picture Day-‐ Students must be in full uniform OCT 17 Early Dismissal for students – 1:15 p.m. OCT 18 Testing for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors NOV 1 Report Card Pick Up The following days have a different schedule: Thursday, October 17 – 1:15 p.m. Dismissal / Office closes at 3 p.m. Friday, October 18 • Testing for Freshmen, Sophomore, and Juniors. Seniors will have selfdirected college exploration: college visits, essay preparation, or meetings with college counselors. Freshmen and Sophomores will be dismissed as early as 11:30 a.m. and continue until 12:40 p.m. Juniorsʼ dismissal will start at 1:00 p.m. and continue until 2:15 p.m. Feel free to contact your son or daughterʼs advisor for further clarification. • Refinement (Detention) will not begin at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, October 18th due to EPAS testing. Instead, detention will begin after testing at 11:45 a.m. Please note, students who start detention at 11:45 a.m. will be dismissed at 2:45 p.m. Students who have extended testing time will join detention after testing. Students with extended testing time will have various dismissal times.
