Charity Hockey Game to Help Calgary Humane Society

Play off fever has hit Midnapore School!
Wearing their Flames jerseys with pride, Grades 5 and 6 Students from Midnapore School will
take on their teachers for an all-out charity hockey game benefiting Calgary Humane Society.
Tracey Keegan, Calgary Humane Society Community Outreach Facilitator, delivered a
presentation to the students last month that focused on reptiles and amphibians, and
responsible pet ownership and empathy. Following the presentation, the students were
inspired to raise awareness about the importance of helping animals.
Bonnie Wright, Midnapore School Grade 5/6 teacher, says following the success of a bake sale
a few weeks ago, the students came up with the idea of a charity hockey event. “We are over
the moon about Calgary Humane Society and this is an entirely student driven idea.”
Bonnie Wright, several Midnapore School Grade 5 and 6 students, and Tracey Keegan, Calgary
Humane Society Community Outreach Facilitator will be on hand and available for interviews.
