Bioinformatics group Vision and ideas of development To start: Regular meetings: 1. Regular meetings of the group ones a month Discussion topics: 1. New / current bionformatics software and approaches 2. Computational resources 3. New molecular approaches / technologies 4. Experimental and computational problems and solutions 5. Research projects 2. Web recourses 1. Web page with regular update of group activities / meetings 2. “Knowledge database” of group member with description of research interests and technological / bioinformatics expertise 3. List of available software ( and user connection) 4. Discussion group / forum: to support and connect researchers around USC Next steps: Short courses (1-2 days): 1. Work in HPC and linux environment 2. Methods of NGS and analysis of outputs Annual retreat / meeting 1. Research presentation 2. Research posters 3. Presentations of invited speakers Long term plans: 1. Development of Bioinformatics core to provide expertise of design and analysis of hightrougput (NGS based) experiments). 2. Organization of “summer school” or series of courses (annually or biannually) to cover technological and computational aspects of “OMICS” oriented research. 3. Design undergraduate and graduate level courses to teach team work approaches in OMICS, personalized medicine (or / and “Big data” approaches)
