Explanatory Note for Hunters filling out the Intake Document
for Wild Game
One intake document may be used
for a number of wild game shot by
the same hunter within the same
locality and within a reasonable
timeframe (e.g. a day’s shoot)
Individual deer carcases must be
identified (e.g. tagged) with a
unique number. Small wild game
can be identified by a batch number
All wild game on each intake document must be
shot within a reasonably sized location e.g Glen of
Immal, Wicklow or Silvermines, Tipperary.
Deer hunting licence
number issued by NPWS
Part 1 Hunter must
complete this part
Numbernumber
of each species
and sex shot to be
entered in each box with
total entered in final box.
For a number of wild game, the time of the first
and last shot must be entered. This must be a
reasonable timeframe e.g. a day’s shoot
Part 2 To be completed
only by hunters who’ve
completed an approved
training programme.
Untrained hunters must
leave this part blank.
Part 3. To be completed
by the person presenting
the deer to the GHE
Part 4. To be completed
by the GHE upon receipt
of wild deer
Hunters who have successfully
completed a hunter training course
approved by the Competent
Authorities in the ROI (FSAI, DAFM
& LAVS) should tick this box and
enter their certificate number here.
Untrained hunters who are
accompanied by a trained person
who is in a position to carry out a
trained person’s examination
should tick this box and fill in the
trained person’s details.
Untrained hunters unaccompanied
by a trained person must tick this
box and present the head and
viscera along with the body to the
Game Handling Establishment.
