About MJCF MJCF is an incorporated not for profit association. MJCF is a celebration of culture through comedy. MJCF inaugurated in 2015 with 59 performers in 10 events across 6 locations with 1200 audience members. MCJF is a biannual festival with a small event being held in the non-festival year. MJCF is a curated program of events. MJCF relies on ticketing income to pay performers, venue hire and festival running costs. MJCF does not receive income from government sources. MJCF is run by a voluntary committee of management and relies on hours of volunteer time contributed by the creative director and production team. MJCF welcomes donations and in kind support to assist with the running of the festival. How to complete MJCF the application form Section 1: All performers and volunteers must complete this section. Section 2: Performers who wish to participate in the MJCF curated program complete this section. You can apply to be part of more than one MJCF curated event. Who can apply The festival is open to anyone who identifies as being Jewish or whose comedy touches on Jewish themes. There are opportunities for up and coming and established performers. Volunteer opportunities with MJCF Please complete the first section of the form and tick the volunteering box with the area you wish to work on. Fees There is no registration fee to participate in MJCF In return all acts are expected to promote the festival within their own networks via poster and program distribution, and social media platforms. MJCF will manage ticketing, venues & technical requirements for MJCF produced events. All performers will be paid a set fee (see application form for details). MJCF ‘venues’ will provide light and sound technicians. Performers will not be charged for this. All performers will be paid a set fee at the conclusion of the festival. This will be paid on receipt of a tax invoice or an Australian Taxation Office Statement of Supplier Form. The invoice must include your nominated bank details. No payments will be made in cash. Page 1 of 6 MJCF Expression of Interest 2017 The number of performers in your act must be outlined in your application and indicated on your invoice. As MJCF is a not for profit organization, the balance of ticketing income after all festival expenses have been paid will be put towards future festival events to ensure the ongoing viability of the festival. Applications will be considered in line with the scheduled 2017 program and events, presenting a gender balance and creating opportunities for new and established performers. The final decision is made in consultation with the creative director, production team and board of management. If your act has more than one member, then an additional $100 will be paid per member (i.e. if an act has two performers MJCF will pay $350).Maximum fee $450 per act.
