CANCELLATION POLICY
Classes may be cancelled by the district for insufficient enrollment with all fees refunded. If a parent wishes to
cancel before June 19th, a full refund will be received. Cancellations received between June 19th and June
30th will incur a $60 cancellation fee. Cancellations after June 30th will incur a $100 cancellation fee.

The Cherry Hill School District is offering a variety of summer enrichment
opportunities for students in grades five through eleven
at High School East.

Program participants must be Cherry Hill Township residents.

Summer Enrichment Classes

Ceramics: Hand Building Techniques and Introduction
to Wheel Throwing
Students will learn basic hand building techniques of
pinch, slab, and coil, and basic wheel throwing
techniques. Projects may include: teapots, sgrafitto
plates, Pop Art sculptures, and pottery. Only five
students can use the wheels at one time, so students
will alternate between wheel and hand buildings.
Students will have to arrange for pick-up of their fired
work. $155 supplies included.
August 7 - 10 (9 AM-12 PM)
Drawing 101
This offering, for artists of all levels, will include the
basics of sketching and shading and other drawing
techniques. Projects will range from a still life to a selfportrait. Bring your enthusiasm and creativity and the
teacher will guide the way. $135 supplies included.
July 31 - August 3 (1 PM-4 PM)
Watercolor Painting
Come have fun this summer learning the basics of
watercolors! Students will learn classic techniques as
well as some Chinese brush painting. Students will
practice using wet on wet, dry brushing, washes and
other techniques of paint application. $160 supplies
included.
August 7 - 10 (9 AM-12 PM)
Drama and Acting
This workshop provides young actors with a
foundation for basic acting skills while building
confidence and creativity through the world of live
theater. Students will have the opportunity to practice
and perform scenes during the course. $140 supplies
included.
July 31 - August 3 (9 AM-12 PM)
Model Rockets & CO2 Cars - An Applied Technology
Workshop
Participants will explore technology through hands on
e-designing and fabricating model rockets and CO2
cars. Students will enjoy learning the basics of rocket
and model building in a safe environment. Participants
will be instructed in the proper/safe methods of using
all the tools and equipment needed. $165 supplies
included.
August 7 - 10 (1 PM-4 PM)
Photography: Unique Processes and Dark Room
Experimentation
Students will learn a variety of unique photographic
techniques including Pinhole Photography, Photograms,
and Black and White Darkroom Printing. Students will
use 35 mm film cameras to take abstract photographs
which will be used in their unique projects. This will
allow for dark room experimentation. $160 supplies
included.
July 31 - August 3 (9 AM-12 PM)
Digital Photography Workshop
Students will learn the basics of digital photography.
Elements of this course include: learning what your
camera can do, photo composition, using Photoshop,
and when and how to use professional lighting. This
class is designed to give amateurs confidence in
knowing how to use their cameras. $175 supplies
included but students should supply a DSLR camera. (A
limited number of cameras will be available for in-class
use only.)
August 7 - 10 (1 PM-4 PM)
Animation for Beginners
Want to create an animated film? Students who
complete this course will learn the photographic
techniques needed for stop action animation using the
digital process. Students will focus on: camera modes,
composition, exposure, and editing using Photoshop.
The basics of script writing and storyboarding will be
included. Cameras, software, and lighting will be
provided. Students must supply their own flash drive in
order to save their creation for viewing with friends and
families. $160 supplies included.
August 7 - 10 (9 AM-12 PM)
Design in 3D
Interested in Architecture and Design? Experience 3D
modeling software SketchUp 2015, the program used by
professional architects, designers, and engineers. In this
class students will learn how to turn basic shapes into a
full room design. Adding furniture, finishes, and lighting
will complete your room plan! Students will leave with a
beautiful color print of their work. $155 supplies
included.

Fun with Graphic Design and Photoshop
Participants will learn the basic tools of graphic design
using Photoshop software. Lessons will incorporate
the users’ individual interests in producing their
project/s. Students can choose project themes such as
music, entertainment, or sports. Design techniques will
be introduced so that participants can create a t-shirt
design, a CD or DVD cover. $160 supplies included.

Basic Knitting - Part 1
This class will introduce you to the wonderful world of
knitting. Students will learn how to “cast on” using
circular needles, the knit and purl stitches, and how to
finish a project. Students will create items such as: a
bookmark, a scarf, a belt, a purse, or a bean bag. Some
simple sewing will also be taught to help complete
each project. $150 supplies included.

Basic Knitting - Part 2

Basic Chess I
The road to learning (or even just playing for
fun) begins with the basics. In this course, students
will learn how the pieces move, the rules and
principles of the game, as well as tactics and
strategies. Students will have ample time to play,
and their games will be incorporated into lessons
to make learning immediately relevant. The instructor
will be able to help each player to improve,
regardless of his/her current ability. $135.
July 31 - August 3 (1 PM-4 PM)
Basic Chess II
In this course, after a quick review of how the pieces

three phases of the game: the opening, middle game,
and end game. Students will have plenty of time to
play, and their games will be incorporated into lessons

Classes include group sessions in music theory instruction, small group and full ensemble
rehearsal. All classes open to Cherry Hill Residents entering Grades 4 through Grade 12
Fee
The $125.00 fee covers instruction and the cost of performance materials for one session.
Students enrolled in more than one session will incur a total fee of $200 for 2 sessions, $300 for 3 sessions.
If enrollment is insufficient, the program and/or any class will be cancelled and all fees will be refunded.
Additional classes, based on number of students enrolled, will be added as necessary.
Instruments & Books
Students may use their own instruments and book, or, rent from a music store or company.
Get a rental form from your school’s instrumental music teacher.
