HMC Finds New Home
After many months of searching for a permanent home for Kankakee’s own Community Free Clinic, we have found a
home in the city’s downtown. Thanks to a generous donation from Mr. and Mrs. Speckman of Speckman Realty, HMC
will now be located at the corner of Chicago and Court Street beginning November 1st, 2016.
The new building will be centrally located downtown in order to be more assessable to public transportation for our
patients. We plan to serve our community by providing free medical care to those who cannot afford it. This would be
beneficial to those who do not have insurance or those who have a high deductible insurance and cannot afford medical
care.
HMC’s new look comes as a charitable donation from community members that have come together to create a better
world. Many often talk about doing missions, and this gives you to opportunity to actively participate in a mission in our
own back yard. People wishing to help can do it in many different ways.
Volunteering: HMC’s new location comes with a higher demand of professionals willing to volunteer. We will be starting
a volunteer drive. Current positions being searched for are medical providers, receptionist and patient care techs (RN,
CNA, Phlebotomist, and MA).

Donation: For those looking to help but cannot afford to give their time,
donations are accepted. 100% of the donations received go towards utilities,
medical supplies, and medicines for people who cannot afford them.
Beginning the month of November, HMC will host a variety of different
fundraising events,
including an open house and a Thanksgiving Pledge. These events will help build the new facility and generate operational

NOTE: there is 0 paid staff at the facility. All staff members/directors are volunteers that
give up their time to help those in need in our community.

**Patient visits do not include lab work. Lab work is contracted through University of Illinois at Chicago Reference
Laboratory. Cost to patients is reduced from hospital/physician cost. CBC, CMP, Lipid, HgA1C can be performed for
$20.00 total vs. $189.00 through common laboratories
To qualify to be seen at HMC, patients must meet at least two of the following: No insurance, Medicaid, less than 300%
Federal Poverty Guideline, deductible of over $1500 individual.

a loan. Funding must be found to
repay the loans listed.
Based on current projections, we need to decrease the amount of monthly expenses by about $2,000 (NOTE: these figures
do NOT include the cost to repair our new building, listed above). This can be done via increased donations, fundraising
drives, donation pledges, and community grants.
As director, I DO NOT believe the figures above should be anything to begin to worry about yet. Projections do not reflect
the donation drive that has begun. Prior to leaving the facility, patients are being reminded to make an appointment for
their next visit on their way out. During this time, they are reminded that we function solely on donations. I believe that
our new policies and procedures will help increase funding and that the facility will be self sufficient during the next
quarter.

Letter from the Director
We want to personally thank you for helping in getting us started. Through the grace of God, hard working volunteers,
appreciative patients, and wonderful community members we are now proud owners of our very own facility. This new
facility will allow us to be open 200% extra from our current hours. This means that our patient load will be increasing.
HMC will be able to provide increased care to more people in our community that desperately need help.
With that being said, HMC is asking for your help. We understand that due to family constraints, jobs, or professional
involvement you may not be able to provide time, but would be willing to provide a monetary donation towards a good
cause. HMC is a 501 C 3 organization that qualifies for tax exempt donations from the public. 100% of your
donation would go to pay for necessary items at the facility or utilities. We have 0 paid employees.
