Auto Theft / Auto Break-ins
LOCATION: All Mission College Parking Lots TIME: Between 08:00AM-6:45PM
INCIDENT DETAILS
Over the last several weeks, there has been a rise in vehicle burglaries (break-ins) and stolen vehicles at
Mission College. Most of the incidents have occurred Monday through Friday, between 8:00AM and
6:45PM. Similar incidents have also been reported at the Mercado Shopping Center to the South of
campus. The majority of the involved vehicles have been; Honda, Acura and Toyota.
PREVENTATIVE MESURES
Please secure your vehicle by locking all doors and windows, remove car stereo faceplates and valuables
from plain view (Examples: GPS, cell phones, purses, wallets, backpacks, etc.).
IMMEDIATELY REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSON(S) OR VEHICLE(S) IN OR AROUND THE PARKING LOTS
The following are some examples of suspicious activity related to vehicle theft and or vehicle break-ins:
Suspicious person: May be a person who is hanging around with no apparent business walking through
rows of cars. They may be checking door handles, looking inside car windows, carrying tools etc.
Are they watching you watch them? Do they turn away or try not to be seen? Are they associated to a
vehicle that is driving nearby?
Suspicious vehicle: Any vehicle that does not have license plates or has obscured plates. A vehicle that
drives up and down rows of cars and repeatedly passes up open parking stalls without parking.
A vehicle that stops at different parking lot locations dropping off people only to return a few minutes
later to pick them up.
IF ANY OF THIS ACTIVITY IS OBSERVED
WRITE DOWN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PERSON(S) AND OR VEHICLE(S) AND IMMEDIATELY CALL THE
DISTRICT POLICE - 911 or 408-299-3233 FROM A CELL PHONE. Tell the dispatcher you are at Mission
College and need a District police officer to respond.
