Revival Step 4:
Don’t Fall Back
Ephesians 4:22-24
“Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of
life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be
renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new
self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness
and holiness.”
4 Steps to Return to God
Step 1: Learn God’s Word
Step 2 : Apply God’s Word
Step 3: Confess Your Sins
Step 4: Don’t Fall Back Into Sin
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall
labor, and do all your work, but the 7th day is a Sabbath to the
LORD your God.” – Exodus 20:8
“In those days I saw in Judah people treading winepresses on
the Sabbath, and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them
on donkeys, and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of loads,
which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day…Then
I confronted the nobles of Judah and said to them, “What is
this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?”
- Nehemiah 13:15-17

It has been over 10 years since they finished the wall
Nehemiah has returned to the king to serve as cupbearer,
but returns to find this disobedience
They were to stop everything and remember God,
what he has done, and worship him.
The Sabbath(Saturday) was their most important day
 God created all in 6 days and then rested on the 7th
 As humans created in the image of God, we are to follow that
pattern of work for 6 days and then rest on the 7th

But Instead, they used the Sabbath to further their own
lives, instead of remembering the God of life
Sunday is our Sabbath
“Not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of
some… - Hebrews 10:25”
The Problem: Sabbath was viewed as
another regular day
Do we view Sunday as the most
important day of the week?
or
Just the 2nd day of the weekend?
Just another day to catch up?
Just another day to schedule activities?
Or is it God’s Day?

him it is sin.”

Nehemiah 13:23-24, 26
“ln those days also I saw Jews who had married women of
Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab. And half of their children spoke
the language of Ashdod, and they could not speak the
language of Judah…Did not Solomon king of Israel sin on
account of such women? Among the many nations there was
no king like him, and he was beloved by his God, and God
made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, unbelieving
women made even him sin.”

Their sin was they married women who did not believe and
those relationships hurt their relationship with God

Solomon – 1 Kings 11:1,4-6
“Now King Solomon loved many foreign(unbelieving)
women…For when Solomon was old his wives turned away
his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true
to the LORD his God…For Solomon went after Ashtoreth
the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the
abomination of the Ammonites…

hears the word, but the cares of the world and the
deceitfulness of riches choke the word,
and it proves unfruitful.”

Where is Your Love? With God or You?
“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you
had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen;
repent, and do the works you did at first.” – Rev 2:4-5
