The Merced County Spring Fair is limited to members of chapters or clubs residing in Merced and Madera Counties. The Junior Department is for young people who want to enter exhibits at Fairs. There are a number of organizations that want competition among members of the organizations. The Fair can do this by establishing divisions and classes for groups such as FFA and 4-H Clubs and others. The Fair will provide the opportunity for young people to exhibit who are not members of an organization. The Fair can do this in several ways. It can let the young person compete in the appropriate class in direct competition with an organization member if there are very few “independent juniors”. It can form separate classes for these independent juniors if there are enough to form a class. In livestock classes, the independent must meet the age and grade requirements if they are in direct competition with members of an organization.
