Affiliated players guidelines

Affiliated Players
Each HMIP team should have an open practice policy with their affiliated players. The affiliated players
will be able attend any affiliated team practices during the hockey season. This policy could be effective
end of October.
This will help the development of dozens of players, allow their integration to the affiliated team, and
increase their motivation without additional cost to the association and detrimental effect to the
affiliated team.
HQ and TL regulations must be followed.
Affiliated players will be signed on T-112 when appropriate. Practicing with team does not require
signature.
Number of affiliated players and their position will be determined by the team coaching staff. A
recommendation of 3-5 players is given if possible. The numbers of affiliated players must not be
detrimental to the affiliated team or conduct of practices.
Affiliated players must come from next class in same level then in the lower levels depending on talent
depth. (e.g. Atom A picks from Atom B then Novice A if necessary).
The higher level team should be the first to choose if conflict arise (Atom A before Atom B for Novice A
players).
The Rate Right rating classification should be used by the coordinators to provide players list to coaches.
Exception can be made if consensus is reach. The rating will remain confidential. Need to know basis
policy.
Equity should be used between teams of same level (e.g. Bantam A has 4 teams. They must pick from
Bantam B first. Only a few players will be able to perform at A level. For example, if 4 B players are fit to
play in A, then 1 player per team).
An affiliated player must give priority to his own team practice and games before attending practices or
games with his affiliated team.
Practicing with affiliated team is a privilege for a player, not an obligation of the association and/or
team.
It is expected that affiliated players will be generally weaker players. Nevertheless, they should be able
to perform reasonably well with the higher level players.
The affiliated players must be able to follow the practice and obey the team rules. If their hockey skills,
behavior or parents presence prevent the team to conduct appropriate practices, then the affiliated
players will have his practicing privileges removed.
