Faculty Research
Administrator
Faculty Research
Administrator routes
application to a Faculty
Ethics Advisor for
review
NB: If you tick yes to question F:1 in your
application (Does the proposed research have
impact on Māori persons as Māori?) then your
ethics application will undergo an extra step.
Once submitted, it will be routed to the office of the
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Māori) Jim Peters, who will
review the Treaty of Waitangi issues discussed in
Section F of the application.
If happy with how these issues are addressed in the
application, he will forward the application and it will
then be routed to the Faculty Research
Administrator to undergo the usual faculty ethics
advice process.
The Faculty resubmission dates
correlate to the deadlines for
submission for the UoA Human
Participants Ethics Committee
(UAHPEC). If applications are not
resubmitted or approved by this
date, they will miss the ethics
committee meeting agenda for that
particular round. However meetings
are every two weeks.
Faculty Ethics Advisor will
either provide feedback on the
application and return it for
modifications, or forward to the
Research Office to process
further. If returned for
modifications, the application
must be edited and
resubmitted prior to the
Faculty resubmission date so
that the ethics advisor has time
to review the changes.
Once the Ethics Advisor is
satisfied that the relevant
ethical issues have been
addressed, they will
electronically forward it within
the system. To make the
Human Ethics C ommittee
meeting for the current round,
this must be done by or on the
Faculty resubmission date.
