MEDIA RELEASE (embargoed for release 0700 8th March 2017) Issued: 6 March 2017 PRAXIS IFM CI League Following previous media announcements, surrounding the much welcomed return of the CI League to the inter insular cricket calendar, the Guernsey and Jersey Cricket Boards are delighted to announce that Praxis IFM have been secured as title sponsors for the next two years. Praxis IFM were originally established in 1972 and with assets under administration exceeding $42 billion, PraxisIFM is an independent, owner-managed, group of companies providing a wide range of bespoke professional services to private individuals, families and international corporate clients. They have offices in many jurisdictions around the world and including both Guernsey and Jersey and thus the CI league was deemed a perfect fit for them. Commenting on the deal for Guernsey Cricket, CEO Mark Latter said, “from the very first rumours of the return of the CI League there has been excited anticipation at the renewing of rivalries at inter insular Club level. To be able to attract a title sponsor of the profile of PraxIFM speaks volumes for the interest such cross water fixtures can create. We are very grateful to PraxIFM for their support and trust all involved will give them some great cricket to enjoy this summer.” Chris Minty, CEO of Jersey Cricket commented ‘our players and clubs are looking forward to playing CI League cricket again and we are all grateful for the support offered by PraxisIFM which will make this possible. We look forward to some good inter-island cricket matches.’ Brian Morris, Executive Chairman of PraxisIFM Group in Jersey, said: “As a major employer in both Jersey and Guernsey with over 200 staff between the two offices, we are delighted to be able to provide vital sponsorship of the CI League for at least the next two seasons. We are very much aware of the cost of travelling between the two islands which can make interisland competitions prohibitive for many sports, and we look forward to playing our part in making the return of the CI League a big success.” David Piesing, Chairman of the Guernsey Domestic Cricket Committee (and also a director of PraxisIFM Trust Limited in Guernsey), said “the CI League will provide a fresh impetus to weekend club cricket in both islands, providing both variety of opposition and grounds as well as the natural added intensity of inter-island rivalry which can only help in the important pathway of preparing players for representing their respective islands on the bigger stage. The assistance of Steve Gaudion at Wayfarers Travel in liaising with Blue Islands/Flybe to deliver flights at the times we needed them, and at the best price possible, should not be understated as the logistical challenges of playing such an inter-island competition are very considerable.” Fixtures will commence from the weekend of 24 June with the inter-island club fixtures all happening over the four successive weekends between 22 July and 12 August. The date and venues for Finals Day (the top two playing-off for the title and also a third/fourth play-off) have been held back from being released at this stage whilst both Boards await news of ICC World Cricket League commitments in September.
