ERRA Summary
AA Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches must become ‘CI Certified’ which involves completing the CI Evaluations after attending
the CI clinic.
Instructions as to how to apply for the Evaluations are posted on the ORA website.
All Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches must also become MED (Make Ethical Decisions) Certified.
For instructions, please see 'MED Information' under Coaching on the ORA website.
Assistant Coaches in Training (those who are 16 or 17 years old as of December 31, 2014) are required to attend a CSI or CI clinic
in accordance with the level of play of the team whose bench they are on.
Trainers must have First Aid Certification. Certain exemption are available, e.g. Registered Nurse
Trainers (U12 Provincial, A and AA) must also attend either a CSI or CI clinic or have completed the Hockey Trainer Certification
Program Level 1.
Managers must complete the Manager Certification Program, available online on the Ringette Canada website. NRA will
reimburse ($25).
All U9 to U19 must have at least one Bench Staff member who has First Aid Certification. It is highly recommended that this
person be present at all games and team activities. Note that this person does not have to have the title of ‘Trainer’; it can be one
of the coaches.
NEW - New coaches who have not completed ringette training to this point will have to complete Introduction to Coaching
Ringette Clinic which will be a standalone three hour clinic. You must have this course in order to complete CSI or CI (if you have
not already completed CSI).
NEW– New coaches at the U14/U16/U19/18+ and 30+ Recreational levels, must be CI ‘Trained’.
* Note that all bench staff must be properly qualified for their positions by January 8, 2016.
** Any unqualified bench staff will be removed from the bench as of January 9th.
Anyone can review the public profile of a coach or trainer at coach.ca. Once on the site click on Public Profile at the top of the
page and then enter the NCCP# (formerly the CC#) and the coaches’ last name and you will be able to view a profile with all
recent coaching certifications including MED Online.
ORA – AM I Certified
From ORA Coaching Operating Manual (page 7)
Making Ethical Decisions (MED)
All coaches must become MED ‘Certified’.
In order to determine if you are MED ‘Certified’ for your respective level (CSI or CI), verify your profile at
Coach.Ca.
If you have your required (CSI or CI) MED Online, you do not need to take it the online evaluation.
If you have been (CSI or CI) ‘Trained’ prior to this year, proceed directly to the online assessment at
Coach.Ca
•
•
In order to complete the MED online evaluation, go to 'eLearning' under 'My Locker' on the Coaching
Canada website (www.coach.ca).
Once complete, please let Joe and Scott know.
Anyone being (CSI or CI) ‘Trained’ this year, will not be taught MED, it is being removed from the course.
Separate MED clinics are being planned, attendance will be required, then you will need to take the
online evaluation.
Multi-sport MED counts, so when you are checking your profile on Coach.Ca, see if you have it.
What is a Code of Ethics
•
A code of ethics defines what is considered good and right
behaviour. It reflects the values held by a group. These values
are usually organized into a series of core principles that
contain standards of behaviour expected of members while
they perform their duties. It can also be used as a benchmark
to assess whether certain behaviours are acceptable.

Please provide me with a list of all tournaments you are entering this season.
Nepean Ringette Tournament is November 19-22, 2015. All teams need to provide a
tournament coordinator. Nancy Henry is the tournament coordinator and will be sending
out a sign up sheet for volunteer hours.
A mandatory meeting for all AA, A, U12 Petite Provincial and 18+ Open A Head Coaches
will be held Wednesday 07-Oct-2015, 7:00 PM in the Food Court at Walter Baker. The Head
Coach from each of these teams must attend.
Please note that region-wide coaches meetings for regional teams ("B", "C", U12 Regional
and younger) will not be held this season. Instead, associations will be holding their own
coaches' meetings and the necessary information will be provided in those forums.
Note that all bench staff must be properly qualified for their positions by January 8,
2015. Any unqualified bench staff will be removed from the bench as of January 9th.
Monday December 28th is our annual Coaching workshop. Paul Youldon will run the sessions
that day and I will provide the Association updates.
