For Immediate Release December 6, 2016 University High School Jazz Ensemble to Play Bon Voyage Concert ORANGE CITY – The University High School Jazz Ensemble will play a Bon Voyage Concert on Friday, December 9, at 7 pm in the high school’s auditorium, 1000 West Rhode Island Avenue, Orange City. The concert is free and open to the public. This will be the final concert before they depart for the 70th Annual Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. “The honor of being invited to perform at the Mid-West Clinic in Chicago is no small feat,” said Volusia County Schools Performing Arts Specialist Monty Musgrave. “They were selected through an incredibly rigorous audition process, competing with schools all over the United States. This is a testament to the superb teaching skills of their conductor, David Martin, and the very talented and dedicated students in the UHS band program. Most high school jazz bands only dream of this achievement, performing for thousands of musicians and educators from around the world.” The University High School Jazz Ensemble is only one of two musical ensembles from the state of Florida to perform at this prestigious conference, and only the second from Volusia County — the University High School orchestra performed in 2012. The Mid-West Clinic’s mission is to strengthen international instrumental music education through extensive professional development opportunities, inspirational experiences and cultivation of rewarding professional relationships. It is attended annually by more than 5,000 musicians and music educators from around the world. ### Media Contact: Robert Edgcomb, community information specialist (386) 734-7190, extension 20234 VOLUSIA COUNTY SCHOOLS Post Office Box 2118 DeLand, Florida 32721-2118 c://uhsjazzensemble
