Years 7–9
Scenario 1
Lee posted photos of a friend on a social media site without
seeking her permission. Lee knew that her friend wouldn’t mind
because her friend often posts pictures of herself online.
Scenario 2
Jenny chatted with some friends online about a personal
problem that her friend Kyle was having. She wanted to discuss
the problem with her friends so that she could come up with a
solution to help Kyle solve his problem. She knew her friends
wouldn’t tell Kyle about the conversation.
Scenario 3
Tran’s friends get together to play an online game every day
after school. Tran noticed some of his friends were starting to
pick on Mel during the game, and could tell Mel was getting
upset. Although Tran knew this was wrong, he didn’t saying
anything because he did not want the others to pick on him.
Scenario 4
Jay became very upset and angry when he had an argument with
his best friend Nate. During the argument, another student in
their class video-recorded Jay upset and angry and then posted it
online.
Scenario 5
Kit and Ash have been online friends for a while and have never
met in person. Kit suggests that they meet up on the weekend.
Ash is really keen to, but has heard a lot of stories of people lying
about who they are. Ash suggests that they meet at a local
shopping centre.
Scenario 6
Pete noticed that some of the students in his class were
spreading rumours about a student at his school. Pete posted a
message on his wall, reminding people to be respectful and
asking them to think how they would feel if someone said untrue
things online about them.
