extreme weather events
 public information and health advice;
 public health preparedness and response to incidents potentially

Public Health response
3.1
Surveillance and response
It is intended to operate enhanced business as usual during Games time.
Public Health Wales will provide the following to HPA and WG:

Daily public health Situation Report (SitRep). This will provide
information on public health threats, incidents and trends in disease
incidence across Wales, and will provide assurance that the
appropriate public health response is being undertaken. During
Games time the SitRep will be provided to:
a. Public Health Wales executive team
b. Director of health protection and Director of CDSC or
nominated deputies
c. Health Protection Agency
d. Welsh Government

3.2
Immediate public health response, including the provision of expert
public health advice and information.
Battle rhythm
The cut of time for the collection of daily data is 12.00 with daily SirRep
report submitted to HPA by 14.00. The HPA will issue daily SitRep to the
DoH and devolved governments at 17.45.
Exception reporting will be required in the event of a significant health
protection issue. There is a 05:45 overnight exception report to inform
the mornings Olympic Committee following the previous day’s report.
The HPA will co-ordinate a 07.30 teleconference with directors of HPUs,
Public Health Wales and Health Protection Scotland to discuss the previous
day’s SitRep and any issues of concern.

4.
Torch Relay
During the torch relay in May the South Wales SCG will be stood up at 101
Cardiff Gate from 07.00 hours to 19.00 hours. Public Health Wales is not
required to have a presence unless an incident occurs. It will however be
necessary to have Public Health Wales SRT on standby during this period.
CDSC are taking this opportunity to trial the SitRep reporting
arrangements and the Temple of Peace and Health will be operational
from 07.00 to 19.00.
It has not yet been finalised whether a public health presence will be
required at the Emergency Co-ordination Centre Wales (ECCW).
5.
On Call Rota
To facilitate an immediate response out-of hours the on-call rota will be
supported by individuals on stand-by. These individuals will include the
health protection nurses and the SpTs on the on-call rota.
Initial
arrangements will be to have a CCDC and two others on standby but this
can be scaled up/down as required
