3 Beach Handball Working Group
Foundation of the IHF Beach Handball
Working Group in 2007:
In 2007 the IHF Beach Handball Working
Group was founded in order to deal with
all international tasks that are related with
Beach Handball. The chairman of the
group is the former International Italian
referee Giampiero Masi.
He is supported by the two former
National coaches Fernando Posada
(ESP) and Alex Gehrer (GER) as well as
the two former International referees
George Bebetsos (GRE) and Panos
Antoniou (CYP).

Mission statement Beach Working Group:
The Beach Handball Working Group is one of the
IHF’s permanent Working Groups and is a technical
body for competitions and non-competitions-related
matters concerning Beach Handball with the
following specific tasks:
• Organization of IHF’s Beach Handball events and
competitions
• Composition of Playing Rules and technical
regulations
• Development of coaching methods and training
techniques

• Global promotion and development of Beach
Handball
• Development of Beach Handball curriculum,
educational programs, methods and materials
• Preparation of promotional materials and tools
• Selection, training, deployment and monitoring of
international referees and delegates
• Selection and training of Beach Handball lecturers
• Qualitative and quantitative match analysis
• Nomination of world selection teams

Mission statement Beach Working Group:
Furthermore the Beach Handball Working Group will
co-operate with all the continental and national
federations on the above and all Beach Handball
related matters as well as instruction and support to the
respective commissions or persons responsible in the
continental federations.
The IHF Beach Handball Working Group’s strategy is
designed towards the development of the “Beach
Handball product” with an ultimate goal: the sport’s
introduction into the Summer Olympic Games Program.
