The team finished 10th – full details below
The team had a fantastic start with a 3-1 win over
Nottinghamshire. All played outstanding and set
the scene for the day.
The team had one of the hardest draws drawing a
really strong Durham and Cleveland team and
Yorkshire who are always strong.
Followed by a really tough game against the
eventual 2nd place side Lancashire where all boys
were beaten 2-0. Not without a fight though.
Not withstanding that they started well and pushed
Yorkshire right to the limits with Matthew Garms and
Lewis Follin both taking games off their opponents,
the team lost out 4-0 though.
This meant that the team would play for the 5th –
8th place play off in the afternoon.
Again they started off really well beating a strong
Cumbria team 3-1 with all matches extremely
close.
The final match for the 5th/6th play off was against
Chester who proved too strong winning 4-0
Jamie Todd and Greg Bojke played some
outstanding squash and can use this as a great
platform to take into their U13 squash in the
upcoming seasons
Lewis Bartram and Joe Wareing will still have
another two years in this event and what a start for
these two young men – what a pair of battlers on
court.
All played and supported as a team and were
outstanding – well done
Durham and Cleveland won 4-0 not surprisingly with
no-one taking a game
This meant that they would be playing for the 9th –
12th position in the afternoon
What a start – they beat Derbyshire 4-0 Matthew
Garms and Lewis Follin both coming from 0-1 down
to win through 2-1. Alex Dyter and Sam Broughton
played excellent squash and won 2-0 in both ties.
Last match was for the 9th/10th play off and they drew
Lancashire 2nd team. What a fight they put up with
Matthew and Lewis just losing out 1-2 despite some
injuries and real guts. Sam Broughton fought back
excellently from 0-1 down to win his tie and Alex only
just lost out 2-1.
They all played and won as a team and both teams
behaviour, effort and conduct were impeccable
Absolute honour to have been team captain with assistance from Dave Todd and all parents– with three
8 years olds getting valuable experience the future is bright and I for one can’t wait for next years event
