SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County sophomore forward Trenton Russell is ranked among the 15th
Region’s Top 10 players. Russell, who led the Hornets in scoring during his freshman season,
occupies the 10th spot in the BluegrassPreps.com 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Preview Top 10
Player Rankings.
Prestonsburg junior forward Dalton Frasure (9), Shelby Valley senior guard Dalton Richardson (8),
Betsy Layne senior guard Peyton Case (7), Lawrence County sophomore forward Timmy Dalton (6),
Sheldon Clark sophomore forward Dylan James (5), Johnson Central senior guard Braxton Blair (4),
Lawrence County junior guard Robert Dalton (3), Sheldon Clark senior guard Chase Parsley (2) and
Johnson Central senior forward Kyle Gullett accompany Russell in the 15th Region player rankings.
During his freshman season, Russell averaged 16.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game for the
Hornets. One of the state’s top 3-point shooters, Russell shot 46.4 percent (64 of 138) from beyond
the arc.
Russell shot 51.2 percent from the field on 2- and 3-point field goals combined and is on pace to
score his 1,000th career point early in the 2014-15 season.
The Magoffin County sophomore excelled in A.A.U. Basketball throughout the summer.
Magoffin County Hornets Jeffery Bolen and Jaren Lovely are listed as “Players just outside the top 10”
in the BluegrassPreps.com 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Preview.
