This marks the seventeenth year of the summer basketball camp for girls! Hard work in the off-season pays off! Hornet Hoops provides girls with fun opportunities to work on individual skills and see how these skills fit within the overall team game. Participants will come away with individual drills/skills to practice at home and an understanding of what it takes to be successful at the scholastic levels. Participants will also have fun through games, contests, and theme days: Crazy Hair Day Spirit Day Outfit Clash Day)! Camp Details Basketball Skills Coach Scott DeForest, the girls’ varsity basketball coach at Fayetteville-Manlius, will run the sessions with assistance from coaches in the F-M girls’ program. The following skills will be the focus of the sessions: The camp is set up as ten morning sessions (8:30-12:00) that will run Monday through Friday during the week of June 29th and the week of July 6th. Participants do not have to attend every session to participate. Individual Defense --footwork and stance --post/perimeter defense Individual Offense --ball handling skills/drills Girls who will be entering grades 4-12 in the fall can participate. Players will be grouped at times by age, but also by ability level to maximize the mastery of skills. --shooting form and drills The cost of the camp is $130.
