Mrs. Weaver’s May News
Dear 2nd grade families,
We have been working hard since spring break! A highlight for many
students is the stories they have been partner writing. Students are
writing their own stories, but they can only be the authors. They have
to submit their writing to a different student, who is acting as the
illustrator.
We discussed that this is how many picture books are written.
We recently completed our Light and Sight PBL, which culminated in the
cow eye dissection. Thanks to all of my brave parents who helped out
with this! Our children really enjoyed seeing all the parts of the eye that
we had been learning about. We are ending the year with a physics unit,
exploring Newton’s Laws of Motion. This week, your 2nd graders are
designing and building marble ramps with all of those tubes you have sent
in all year. If anyone has any empty gift wrap or mailing tubes at home
to donate to us, we could still use a few of this larger size! We can also
use several rinsed yogurt or cottage cheese containers for the next module.
Thanks for saving these for us. We have 3 more weeks of learning to do!
