Our mission is to help our students grow academically, socially, & physically to become well-rounded responsible citizens.
School Wide Behavior Expectations: Be Positive, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be a Problem Solver
Our goal is to move all students up one proficiency level in ELA and Math on
state testing. Students who are already at the Advanced level will maintain that level of performance.
During the 2015-2016 school year teachers will use Fountas and Pinnell data to design differentiated instruction.
We will maintain a campus that provides a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for students.

March 2016 News
I want to take this opportunity to share a sincere
"thank you" for your continued efforts in supporting
everything we do at Metairie Academy.
Specifically, I want to thank you for helping your child
with homework and project assignments. I want to
thank you for discussing assignments and
assessments with your children to help them to
understand what they did well and what improvements
can be made to increase their academic and behavioral
success. I want to thank you for sending in monetary
donations for the community events we, as a school
community, are supporting. I want to thank you for
choosing NOT to cook at home and spending your hard
earned money at Papa John's, Mizado Cocina, and
TCBY (and even Skate Night) so that our school can
receive proceeds.

I especially want to thank you for your support of
events such as the Halloween Dance and Fun Run
(Mustang Men's Club), MAAS Mardi Gras Parade,
Holiday Shop, and Trivia Night (Co-Op) and the
Auction Gala, which is a large source of funding for our
school. Many groups of dedicated parents and
volunteers work tirelessly FOR OUR STUDENTS. I
appreciate your time, supportive efforts, and your
monetary contributions but I do not expect anything
except what you are able to do and/or contribute. As I
tell the children, participation in these activities is "a
want to, and not a have to."
Lastly, I want to thank the parents who have
communicated with me, in person and through
email and other written communication, to
express support as well as to inquire about
specific school issues. I welcome your feedback
and appreciate your important partnership in
this outstanding educational community!

If you cannot attend, you may take this opportunity to
make a donation to the Metairie Academy COOP. Checks should be made payable to Metairie
Academy CO-OP. Also, a few great door prizes could
make the event even more fun. Please send any
donations to school marked Co-Op Trivia Night by March
17, 2016. Thanks!
The Metairie Academy Co-Op is excited to announce
its annual Gala benefiting Metairie Academy for
Advanced Studies! The 2016 Starry Night Gala will
be at Southport Hall. Now in its 10th year, the Gala
raises funds for educational tools, equipment, staff
development and facility improvements that our
students might not otherwise have. Proceeds from
previous Galas have purchased computers & iPads,
audiovisual systems for classrooms and licenses for
online learning tools, among other things. A key
component of the Gala is obtaining donations from
businesses that will then be auctioned the night of the
Gala. We would love parent support in obtaining as
many donations as possible.
For a donation form and ideas of how to ask for
donations, please visit the gala website at

encourage you all to contact relatives and friend in
other states to give on-line through your child's
homeroom webpage. Thank you for your giving which
helps to save lives!

Pull-Tabs for Charity
Pull for the House
One of the easiest ways to help the
House
is by collecting pull tabs!
This important program helps fund various household
expenses at Ronald McDonald House. Families pay $10 per
night for their stay, but it actually costs the house $68 per
night to house each family. The pull tab program helps
supplement those costs, including buying food for the house
pantry and providing gas for the house van. Ronald
McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire
aluminum cans because it's more hygienic to store tabs than
cans, and collection and storage is easier.
(This program helps others)
