Meanwood Primary School Newsletter Friday 10th February 2017 Class Assemblies: Thank you to our parents/carers who attended Mrs Randerson’s Year 1 class assembly and Mrs Comyn-Doyle’s Year 5 class assembly today. Next Friday at 9.05am is Mrs Cunnely’s class assembly. Nursery If your child attends Nursery and you’d like to book an additional session for them, we still have some Nursery places available, especially Friday sessions, for children aged 3 and 4. Please ask Miss Herod in the office for more information or to book additional sessions, costing £3.50 per hour. On Monday 13th Year 1 children will be visiting St Clement’s Church, and on Tuesday 14th February Year 5 will be visiting Spotland Methodist Church, this will be in school time. Next Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th February the Reception children will be taking part in a ‘Learn to Ride Bikes’ workshop. Parents’ Workshops – Thank you to all the parents/carers who attended the Crafty Creations workshop on Wednesday. The children read The Owl and the Pussycat and made word puppets. We hope you all had fun! We would like to invite Reception parents/carers to the next Play Workshop on Wednesday 15th February. Sports: Some of our Year 1 and Year 2 children participated in Wardle Academy’s KS1 Sports Event this week – they all had a great time! Also the year 6 girls Basketball Team competed and came third, winning bronze medals, well done! The Rochdale Additional Needs Service (RANS) ASC Team will be hosting a coffee morning for parents or carers of children and young people with autism spectrum conditions. These informal events provide the opportunity to meet other parents/carers over a cup of coffee (or tea) and share their thoughts, stories and experiences. Everyone is welcome - whatever age your child, whatever their needs, whether they have a diagnosis or you suspect they might be on the spectrum. This is a drop-in so come along anytime between 1:30-3pm. No need to book. We hope you found it useful to get an update on your child’s progress and achievements. For those of you who didn’t manage to attend, teachers are happy to arrange an alternative appointment; please ask if you’d like one. Our next school holiday is half term. School closes next Friday 17th February at 3.30pm and reopens at 8.55am on Monday 27th February 2017.
