SALYERSVILLE - The Magoffin County Hornets will visit the Estill County Engineers for their second in
the 2015 Kentucky high school football season on Friday night.
Both Magoffin County and Estill County will carry a 1-0 record into the high school football matchup.
Magoffin County head coach Scotty McCoy and his team returned to the practice field earlier in the
week.
In the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Week 0, Leslie County blanked visiting Magoffin
County 44-0.
The Hornets will look to get going offensively early in the game versus host Estill County.
An opponent from neighboring Class 3A, District 7, Estill County dropped a close game to Fleming
County in its 2015 season debut. Fleming County edged Estill County 36-34.
Estill County rolled up 343 rushing yards versus Fleming County in the season-opener.
Leading Estill County in the opener, Kordel Day rushed 23 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
Another Estill County running back, Dawson Bingham, rushed 15 times for 105 yards and a pair of
touchdowns.
Defensively, Estill County limited Fleming County to 243 yards in the season-opener.
The Engineers, under the direction veteran head coach Mike Jones, ended the 2014 season 9-3. Estill
County fell to Russell in the second round of the 2014 Class 3A State Playoffs.
Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Estill County football game is set for 7:30 p.m. in Irvine.
