Scorer with BridgePads Quick Guide to Teams Scoring These instructions a short guide to Teams scoring. Only the most common functions are covered. For details on more advanced or optional functions see the Scorer User Manual and BridgePad User Guide. Start scorer using desktop icon: Login: Name = admin Password = none (leave blank) Or use the Name and Password you have been provided with Click Enter From top menu, choose Scorer,then Score Section The event should have been pre-entered in the calendar. If the event is not showing here, refer to the Scorer User Manual for instructions on entering events. Select the event (there will usually only be one) Click Next Page 1 Make sure the date and event name are in the header window at the top of the screen. Click Players to print the listing of teams which have been pre-entered. Have the teams sit at the table number equal to their team number. (Alternative not used at Wellington Club – players sit at Home and Away tables. You will need to do the draw to allocate table numbers). Start BridgePad and Do the Draw Make sure the correct Round No. is showing Check that the Live button is clicked. Only use the 1-Prior button if this is Round 3 and you are - for time reasons - doing the draw for round 3 after round 1 (not after round 2). Click Draw. If teams are sitting at their table number, tick Use team No for Table. If using home and away tables, untick this Enter starting board number. 1 for the first round of the night. Click Create Remote Database. Tick (click) Clear Data from Server. Click Start Remote Server. The BridgePad software will start up in the background Page 2 Click Automatic Draw You may get a message saying “The draw is good”. Don’t worry if not. When the draw is done, it will be shown on the screen here Click the Team / Pair Order button To display the draw on a big screen, click View Draw in Browser. If print is required, click View Print.When the print window shows, click Print or Setup to change the print options (eg print multiple copies). East/West can now move to their opponent’s table and you can hand out boards for play to start. Ask players to check they are sitting in the opposite direction to their team mates Setup BridgePad and Game Options for Teams If you cannot see the BridgePad data screen, click on the BridgePad icon at the bottom of the screen (or press Alt-Tab). When you have the BridgePad window connected to RF Unit should be showing Green Check that the correct number of tables and boards are showing. For rounds other than the first, there will be a Table 0 showing in this window. This can be ignored. Click Game Options Page 3 Ensure settings are as shown here Click OK Select Communications/Channel and select the same channel the BridgePads have been set to. (for Club night play, this is usually channel 12) Hand out the bridgepad units. Players can now connect and enter their player numbers as well as the scores. The Round is Played As players connect to the server, the word “Initialized” appears in the init row. During play, the squares for board/table will be populated with the results and the director can monitor that results are being received as play progresses. When all names have been entered on the BridgePads, in Scorer click Upload Names. You can make any manual changes to the names (eg for Visitors) by clicking Enter Names. Click Return. At the end of the round click on the BrigePad program again and check that all results have been captured (look for blank squares). If any boards have not been played (eg for lack of time), NP should be entered as the contract for that board on the BridgePad. LP on the bridgepad is used for boards that will be played, but at a later time (eg at the end of the round). Page 4 When all results are in, change the channel to channel 19 so no more entries can be made from the BridgePad units. Click Yes to the message that indicates you are severing the connection to BridgePad. Generate and Display/Print Results Make any re-assigned score adjustments in the BridgePad program. Click the entry in BridgePad you want to change, and you will get a box in which you can change the score. Click Enter Scores to get the Swiss Scoring screen. On the Swiss Scoring screen, click Upload Results. The panel on the right “Left to Score” should now be empty. If the Director applies an unbalanced VP adjustment, this can be made by entering the new VP values required. The Directors Adjustment button in this screen is used to change the score of a specific board. If you used the adjustment, you must “Upload Results” again after the adjustment is made for it to take effect. Optional – if displaying completed matches on large screen: click Display Results in Browser. Print Round Sheets if desired. Note that only adjustments done via the BridgePad software will be reflected in the results shown on the big screen or on the Round Sheets, but all adjustments will be reflected in the printed and saved results. Click Return. Any further penalty adjustments can be made by clicking the Adjustments button in the Event Setup screen. Important: Make sure you are showing the correct round No. Ensure Full Results is checked. Click Calc Results and the Report Print Options box comes up. Click Print. Setup on the Report Options Box allows you to change the printer settings (eg select a different printer, print multiple copies) or export the results in a different format. Page 1 will be the results of the current round, Page 2 the overall placings. Page 5 Print All Teams give full results for all teams. Next Round To process the next round, click on the Round line. Round No will change and you can do the next draw and repeat the steps from Page 4. Details for less common or more complex options are found in the Score User Manual. These include: Entering carryovers from the setup screen Splitting an event after qualifying rounds “Use common database” in the Draw screen At the end of the night: Exit and close BridgePad Exit and Close Scorer Shutdown the PC in the playing room Put the results on the web.
