Pieces needed to play: Golf Green 1 set of regulation gates (Gate Diagram) 1 golf putter per player 1 golf ball per player 2 standard size regulation green cup-holes 1 score card per game 1 copy of Poke or Putt Official Rules Object of the Game: Each player takes turns putting their ball through the gates in numerical order numbered 1-18. The last gate numbered 18 will be placed over the cup-hole on the green and the player to go through the gate and sink their ball into the cup-hole #18 in the same shot first wins the game. However, it is not as easy as it may seem, strategy comes into play. If a player hits their golf ball and their ball touches or hits another player’s ball they receive another turn. Giving you the choice to either spike your opponent’s ball with your ball off the green or shoot for the gate to increase your chance of getting ahead and winning the game! Set up Rules: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Starting gate can be placed anywhere on the edge of the green. (Setup Rule 1) All gates must be placed within green boundary. (Setup Rule 2) Gates 9 and 18 will always be placed over one of the two cup holes on the green. (Setup Rule 3) 2 regulation size green golf cups randomly placed on the green. Copy of the official Poke or Putt Rules Game Rules: 1. To see who goes first all players hit one shot from the starting gate towards gate #18. The player whose ball is closest to gate #18 cup-hole or in the cup-hole goes first. Second closest goes second and so on... Any tie in distance can be challenged with an additional sudden death shot towards the 18 cup-hole. (Game Rule 1) 2|Page 2. Each player will shoot their golf ball through the gates in numerical order 1-18. Each gate will have a green dot in the direction you must shoot through that gate. (Game Rule 2) 3. If during your turn your ball goes through the gate you are currently on you are awarded another turn towards the next gate. Your ball must be completely 100% through the gate you are on to get your next turn. If it is only part way through it does not count. This is for both directions for example coming through the wrong direction to set up a shot. (Game Rule 3) 4. To win the game you must shoot your ball through and into the gate #18 cup-hole. Your ball has to go through the #18 gate and go into the #18 cup-hole all in the same shot in the direction of the green dot to be declared the end game winning shot. (Game Rule 4) 5. There are two cup-holes for each green cup-hole #18 and cup-hole #9. These cup-holes will have #9 and #18 gates above the holes. (Game Rule 5) a. #9 Cup-hole Rule: Any time your ball ends up in this hole regardless of how it ends up there during your turn or not: i. your turn is over. ii. go back two gates. iii. shoot from the starting gate on your next turn. b. #18 Cup-hole Rule: Any time your ball ends up in this hole regardless of how it ends up there during your turn or not: i. Start game over at gate#1 ii. Shoot from starting gate on your next turn iii. If it is not end of game shot and your ball goes in your turn is over iv. If it is end of game shot on your turn and you go through the gate into the hole, then the above does not apply – you win v. If it is end of game shot and your ball goes through the gate and does not fall in the hole your turn is over. 6. If during a player’s turn who is on gate #18 goes through the gate and the ball does not fall into the cup-hole in the same shot the player’s turn stops. The player must come back around the gate and go through gate #18 into the hole all in the same shot to win the game. (Game Rule 6) 7. If you become frustrated and decide to pick your ball up and sit out. You can rejoin the game any time it is your turn from the starting gate towards the gate you were on. (Good sportsmanship rule) 3|Page 8. Anytime your ball comes to rest where it can't be played off the green your ball will be considered out of bounds. You will have to use your turn to take a ball drop one club length, and no closer to the green. 9. No talking from other players when a player approaches their ball to have their turn. 10. If you go through two gates in numerical order in one shot there is no additional turn rewarded for going through the second gate. 11. Hitting balls aggressively or throwing clubs will result in an automatic game loss and player will have to sit out until next game. (Poor sportsmanship rule) 12. When a player goes out of turn upon realization their turn stops and they miss their next turn. The error must be realized before the next player’s turn is executed or no penalty will apply. In other words, a player has hit their ball after the person who played out of turn and has taken a shot. If you went out of turn your turn stops upon realization. You miss your coming turn and the turn after that. 13. Foot rule for ball contact. a. If a player comes into contact with any balls that player misses their next turn and must shoot from the starting gate towards the gate number they were on. b. If during your shot a ball comes into contact with your foot, there will be no penalty and all balls will be played where they come to rest. However if at any other time when all balls are sitting at rest you carelessly or accidentally step on or kick a ball you have the same penalty as in 13a. Ball hitting Rules: 1. Although they do not receive an additional turn. (Ball Hitting Rule 5) 6. Once the game begins there will be no picking up or cleaning your ball.
