Conflict
• The conflict in this story was Man Vs. Man. One
conflict in this story was when the Captain ,
Johnny, and Kristy escape and run into a guard,
and Kristy surprise attacks the guard and breaks
his arms. Another conflict is when there is a
ScreeWee going down the corridors, Kristy was
about to shoot the ScreeWee but didn't because it
was the tea lady. the Another conflict is when
Johnny shoots the Gunnery Officer because he
was endangering the ScreeWee, Johnny and
Kristy.
Theme
The theme of this story is, take chances. This the
theme because when Johnny shot the Gunnery officer he
didn’t want to but he had to. Because Johnny killing the
Gunnery Officer the fleet and the Captain reached the
border. A quote from the book: “Yes, I shot him. I shot
him. I wish I didn’t have to, but I had to. He was alive and
now he isn’t.” (p.200)
Another chance Johnny took was when Johnny stood
right in front of an armed guard, which resulted in Kristy
breaking the Guard’s arm.
Theme
• A quote from the book: “He stepped out into the
corridor. … the guard raised the gun. Then there was a
thunderous knocking on the other side of the cabin door.
The guard made a simple mistake. She should have
ignored the knocking… The door opened a little way …
The guard swayed backward. Kristy came through the
door airborne and started hacking at the guard’s arms
with her hands.” (p.159 & p.160)
Resolution
The resolution of this story is when Johnny
defeats the Gunnery officer and leaves the ship
with Kristy.
This picture
represents the
Resolution because
Johnny wakes up
after he left the
starship he woke up
and felt that his life
was different
