Each team has a lily pad for each player. The idea of the game is:

Pass the poi/ki to a player standing on the mat to score

Stop the other team from doing the same

The ball is placed by the referee into the middle at the beginning of the game and after each score.
Players run to be the first to the ball. ( no kicking is allowed)

The ki ( ball) cannot go directly from defence to the attacking zone; it must be passed 3 times.

The ball must be caught to score.

If it is caught at waist height take away 1 mat, head height take away 2 mats

If defenders intercept the ball play changes direction.

You can run with the ball but once tagged you have to remain still and have 3 seconds to make a pass.

If the ball is dropped play changes sides.

You can’t snatch the ball from a players hand.

In the touch game only pushing with hips and bum is allowed. Pushing with hands will result in a turn
over ball
