Freeths LLP is a law firm practising many
different areas of law; we currently have 11
offices throughout the UK. Our office in
Nottingham is our head office and most of the
main administration and support services are
provided from here, the current level of staff
at Nottingham is 334. Our other offices vary
in size and staff members and are spread
across the UK and we have a total staff in
excess of 760 across all of our offices.
Good Practice
We are constantly looking to improve our
environmental performance and to reduce the
impact our activities and services have on the
environment.
comprises: A senior partner who chairs the
meetings, along with representatives from
Human Resources, Administration/Facilities
and various volunteers from across the
offices.
Environmental Management
System
We
have
developed
an
effective
environmental management system (EMS)
by carrying out regular reviews and audits to
continually improve our energy and materials
consumption, whilst reducing waste and
pollution.
Ongoing reviews will be undertaken to:
•
Reduce energy consumption.
While complying with legislation is, of course,
very important to us, part of what we do is
also about our keenness to provide an
example of good practice and to make a
difference.
•
Reduce the amount of waste we produce,
in particular paper waste.
•
To ensure our main stationery product,
paper, is sustainably sourced.
Two of the ways in which we have applied
this is:
•
Assess business travel, with a view to
reducing unnecessary travel and gas
emissions.
•
Look at courier services/3rd party
transportation,
and
identify
any
reductions in emissions that can be
made.
•
Increase awareness amongst staff by
sharing information through Case Viewer,
our internal electronic communication
system.

2.
Disposal of waste - we recycle our waste
widely, including paper, glass, cans,
batteries, IT equipment, plastic cups,
cardboard, mobile phones, printer and
toner cartridges. We also use recycled
products where we can; and
reducing our paper consumption –
historically, law was a paper intensive
profession, however, with current
electronic working systems we are
reducing our dependence on paper
based filing.
Green Group
We have a “Green Group”, which meets on a
quarterly basis, to review, monitor and
recommend good practices.
