Trivia Contest Rules [Structure of the competition will depend upon the number of teams participating.] If more than 4 teams participating, teams will compete in rounds to determine the top 4 teams. Each round will consist of 4 or 5 teams competing. The 4 teams with the highest scores will move on to the final round of competition. Each team will appoint a captain who will ring the buzzer to answer a question. The captain must provide an answer immediately upon ringing the buzzer. Teams can discuss answers but must do so prior to ringing the buzzer. Only the captain may answer the questions. If another member of the team responds to a question, the team will lose the points denoted for that question. If a member of an opposing team answers out of turn, that team will also lose the points denoted for that question. If the first team to buzz in responds with an incorrect answer, the other teams will have an opportunity to buzz in again for a chance to answer the question correctly. Each team will have a UTA Ambassador to serve as a lifeline. The team may call on the Ambassador 2 times during the competition to assist with the answer to the question. If the Ambassador answers the question correctly, the team will receive the points. If the Ambassador answers the question incorrectly, the team will lose the points. Final Jeopardy: At the end of the game, a final jeopardy question will be asked. Each team will determine an amount of points to wager (up to the amount they have earned up to this point in the competition). The wagers will be collected by the game host. The final jeopardy question will be asked and the teams will have 30 seconds to formulate an answer. The answers will be submitted to the game host. The answers will be revealed by the game host and points will be awarded/deducted appropriately. The team with the highest total points at the end of the game will win.
