Centrally Contracted Coaches
Centrally Contracted Coaches – Field Coaches and Goalkeeper Coaches
England Hockey Board is looking to add to its team of Centrally Contracted Coaches (CCCs). They will
report to the Head of Coaching and England Hockey Board Regionally appointed personnel, who are working
in partnership with the Regional Associations to provide consistent, performance hockey coaching. The Board
of Directors, Regional Associations and performance team are committed to the development of coaching and
players within our sport.
Following on from the 2012 Olympics it is imperative that the England Hockey Board look to capitalise on a
fantastic summer of hockey- the quality delivery of coaching is key to that aim.
The Role
To assist England Hockey Board and the Regional Associations through:
The delivery of high quality coaching sessions as directed by the Head of Coaching at a Junior Regional
Performance Centres (JRPCs).
Leadership and coordination of the Regional Age Group Players within the JRPC’s (U15 to U18) and
programmes.
To support the Single System implementation and National Age Group Programmes as directed.
The CCC will have a responsibility to:
Oversee the delivery of a high quality coaching programme from the England Hockey Board syllabus at JRPC
level.
Attend the full programme of JRPC sessions as appointed
Ensure a safe training and playing environment is maintained at all times
Ensure the selection and evaluation criteria used is thorough and follows established policies
Ensure feedback to players and coaches is thorough and timescales are adhered to
Attend meetings as and when required at National and Regional level
Communicate the England Hockey performance lifestyle recommendations
Maintain a high level of continuous personal development
Input into discussions and feedback on the programme to enhance the future programme delivery
Comply with all aspects of England Hockey Board’s Health and Safety, Code of Ethics and Safeguarding Policies
and Arrangements

The Person
The successful applicant will have:
















The skills and qualities of the Coach at Talent development strand as written in the Coach Pathway
Model (5 x4) which can be found on the England Hockey web site
Level 2 Coach Award or above (or a willingness to achieve L2 by April 2012)
Current First Aid Certificate (must be completed by end of April 2012)
Be prepared to undertake an enhanced CRB check through England Hockey Board.
Current Child Protection Certificate SCUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop within
last 3 years. (Must be completed by the end of April 2012)
Current Driving Licence and use of own car.
Willingness to travel on a regional basis with occasional national or potentially international, travel.
Minimum of 3 years relevant coaching experience of which at least 2 years must be with
Regional/National League players and experience of leading a regional/club programme, including
player development within a performance environment.
Ability to work with young players (U18’s)
Experience in the development of individuals including; auditing of strengths and weaknesses,
producing personal development plans, monitoring performance, producing feedback and reports.
Proven experience in the delivery of a programme planned by others.
Experience of maintaining an overview of the targets.
Computer literacy including email, MS Office.
Awareness of the current performance standards and techniques in performance hockey.
A sound understanding of the philosophy for the implementation Single System and Performance
Plan.
A sound understanding of good practice in relation to safeguarding young people (child protection)
