Karen is from Saratoga, CA, where she began riding at the age of 8. She joined the
Saratoga Pony Club, and later began teaching and training at the Stanford Equestrian
Center. She began moving up the levels on her mount, Shane, where they competed annually
at Junior Championships earning several titles from Training Level through Fourth Level. In 2001, she and
Shane earned a spot on the Region 7 Young Rider’s Team to represent Region 7 at the FEI North American
Young Rider’s Championships in Chicago, Illinois. Two years later they competed at several Pan Am Games
selection trials. Karen then acquired the mount, Cezanne, and showed him successfully through FEI
Intermediare I, with scores in the 70’s. Karen’s current mount, Dimer, owned by Carolina White, is making his
start this year at the Fourth Level and FEI Prix St. Georges, and shows great talent. The pair are earning
