C ONTEST R ULES FOR V ANCOUVER I NTERNATIONAL M ARATHON S OCIETY
THEPRIZE
1. Thewinningteamoffour(4)willreceive$400(fourhundreddollars)eachfromthe
VancouverInternationalMarathonSociety(the“Society”).Intotal,$1,600(onethousand
andsix-hundreddollars)willbeawardedtothewinningteam.
2. Inaddition,thewinningteamwillhave$400(fourhundreddollars)donatedintheir
name,bytheSociety,toeitheroneofthefollowingcharities:1)theMovember
Foundation;or2)theGreaterVancouverFoodBank.
3. TheContestprizewillbedrawnby11:59onNovember13thandwillbeawardedtothe
winnerteamatatimeandplacetobemutuallyagreedbetweentheSocietyandthe
winningteamentrantsbyNovember25,2016.
ELIGIBILITYREQUIREMENTS
4. Tobeeligibletowintheprize,Contestparticipantsmust:
a) Registerforthe2016FallClassicat5KM,10KMorHalfMarathonbyNovember
10,201611:59pmPST;
b) JoininoneUBCRunClubGroupRunbyNovember10,2016andensurethat
theirattendanceattheUBCRunClubGroupRunisrecordedbyaUBCRunClub
representative;orjointheRUNVANSocialRunonOctober20thandensurethat
theirattendanceisrecordedbyaRUNVANrepresentative.
c) Participateinthe2016FallClassic5KM,10KM,orHalfMarathondistance.
5. Inordertobedeclaredawinner,thewinningteammust:
d) Respondtotheprizenotificationviaemailwithin72hoursoftransmission(if
anyselectedentrantcannotbereachedwithin72hoursfromthetimeofinitial
contact,analternativeentrantbeselected);and
e)
SigntheSociety’sstandarddeclarationwhichstates,amongotherthings,that
he/she:
I. Hasread,understandsandcomplieswiththeContestrules;
II. ReleasesanddischargesSocietyanditsparents,subsidiariesandaffiliates,
thesuppliersofprizesorservicesrelatedtotheContest,andtheir
respectiveadvertising,promotionandproductionagenciesandother
agentsorrepresentatives
III. Consentstotheannouncementofthewinner'snameandtheusebyoron
behalfofSocietyofthewinner'sname,address,photograph,likeness,
voiceorstatementsforadvertisingandpromotionalpurposeswithout
anyfurthercompensationtothewinner.
6. Shouldthedeclaredwinnernotagreetothedeclarationabovewithin5daysofbeing
selected,theapplicableprizewillbeautomaticallyforfeitedandanotherentrantwillbe
selectedbyrandomdraw.
7. Thechancesofwinningdependuponthenumberofeligibleentriesreceived.
DISCLAIMERANDLIABILITYEXCLUSION
8. TheSociety,thesuppliersofprizesorservicesrelatedtotheContest,andtheirrespective
advertising,promotionandproductionagenciesandotheragentsorrepresentativeswill
not,underanycircumstances,beresponsiblefor,orliabletoanyContestentrantorany
otherpersonfor:
a) anyerroneous,lost,damaged,late,incomplete,misdirected,falsified,deleted,
defective,oralteredContestentries,regardlessofthecause;
b) anyfailureforanyreasonwhatsoeveroftheselectedentranttoreceiveaprize
notificationemail;
c) anychangesinemailaddressesoremailaddressassignmentsafterContest
entryformsaresubmitted;
d) anycomputer,online,telephone,ortechnicalmalfunctionsorerrorsthatmay
occur,regardlessofthecause;or
e) anydamageorloss,includinganylossofuse,lossofproduction,lossofprofits
(anticipatedorotherwise),lossofmarkets,economicloss,special,indirector
consequentiallossordamageorpunitivedamages,whetherincontract,tortor
underanyothertheoryoflaworequity,arisingfrom,connectedwith,or
relatingtotheContestorthesubmissionofentriestotheContestor
participationintheContestortheContestprize,)andregardlessofthecauseor
anynegligencebySocietyoranyoneforwhomtheSocietyisresponsible,and
notwithstandingthattheSocietymayhavebeenadvisedofthepossibilityof
suchlossordamagebeingincurred.
OTHERMATTERS
9. TheSocietyreservestheright,attheiroption,topublisheachwinner'sname,
photograph,likeness,voiceorstatementswithoutanyfurthercompensationtothe
winner.
10. TheContestissubjecttoallapplicablefederal,provincialandlocallawsandisvoidwhere
prohibitedbylaw.Ifanyprovisionoftheserulesisfoundbyanycourtofcompetent
jurisdictiontobeunenforceable,allotherprovisionswillremaininfullforceandeffect.
