SOCIAL SIXES CRICKET FESTIVAL INFORMATION SHEET When? Sunday, 13 March 2016. Time? The day will start with a team briefing at 10am. Matches will be played from 10.30am until approximately 3.30pm. Prizegiving will be held following the event – further details of the prizegiving coming soon! How much? Team registrations are $90 per team or $60 for a team made up entirely of students. Do I have to be good at sport? No! This is a social tournament and all levels of cricket players are welcome. Where? Ongley Park, Palmerston North. How long are the games? Each innings will last approximately 20 minutes and two matches will be played together on each pitch (so nobody has to wait too long between matches). This means two matches should take approximately 1hr30min. Example of how two matches are played together on a pitch: Team 1 will bat v Team 2 fielding This will be followed immediately with Team 3 batting v Team 4 fielding (Team 2 will pad up) Team 2 would then bat v Team 1 fielding (Team 4 will pad up) Team 4 bats v Team 3 fielding How many games do we get to play? Number of games will be based on how many teams we get. It is expected that each team will play three matches. Is there a social function? An after function/prizegiving will be held after the event – more details coming soon! Is there food there? All players receive a ticket for a BBQ sausage and a can of soft drink as part of their registration. Are there prizes? Yes there will be a variety of prizes. There will be a prize for the best dressed team, spot prizes and tournament prizes. Who can be in my team? Maximum number of 8 players per team. You can have a maximum of two current club players in your team. Teams need to be made up of at least 6 players. There is no age restriction, however, players under 16 should be confident playing against adults and they must have parental permission. Do we have to provide the equipment? We do encourage you to use your own gear, however gear is available (on request) for those teams who need it. Tournament balls and umpires will also be provided. What do we need to wear? All teams are encouraged to wear the same coloured or similar t/shirts where possible. There will be a prize for the best dressed team. All players are required to wear sport shoes. No sprigs are allowed as we are using artificial pitches.
