Give Us a Chance Ltd – Health & Safety Policy
GUAC will always act in accordance with Health & Safety legislation. This
legislation has been important in reducing accidents at work and improving the
safety and welfare of employees, customers, contractors/consultants and the
public. GUAC does not currently have employees, so the Board of Directors and
the consultants contracted to the organisation are responsible for ensuring that
Health and Safety legislation is complied with. Health & safety is not the
responsibility of a particular individual, but is an integral part of everyone’s role
to manage risk and prevent damage to individuals and/or the business.
GUAC ‘s main activities involve meetings and events. GUAC is committed to
health and safety in the workplace and will comply with its duty under the
Health and Safety at Work Act to ensure, as far as it is reasonably practicable, the
health and safety and welfare of all Board Directors, consultants, members and
representatives of partner agencies that do business with GUAC and are involved
in meetings and events organised and run by GUAC.
As GUAC does not currently have any premises these meetings and events take
place at third party premises and are therefore covered by third party risk
assessment and insurance. GUAC will adopt the procedures in place and
guidelines for health and safety within the environments provided by GUAC
members and partners. In all cases existing local health and safety regulations
should be considered if it is thought to be necessary to prepare procedures
specific to a GUAC event. Certain health and safety matters will always reside
with the host member/partner and will vary from site to site. Normally these
include:




Fire instructions
Excavation procedures and assembly points
Fire fighting appliances
Fire drills and tests
Overall responsibility for health and safety rests with GUAC Board of Directors.
The Board may delegate day-to-day responsibility for health and safety matters
to one or more of its consultants. All members and consultants have an equal
responsibility for ensuring that GUAC sticks to its health and safety policy and
should notify the Chair of the Board or leading consultant of any or potential
issues. Everyone involved with GUAC has a responsibility to take reasonable
care of themselves and other people who may be affected by their acts and
omissions at work and to co-operate with the Company on health and safety
matters. The final responsibility for their own health and safety and that of
others much rest with each individual.
This policy will be substantially reviewed when GUAC gains office premises and
its own workforce.
