The Strategy function supports the ABB CEO and Executive Committee on key strategic topics for ABB Group. Location: Job Function: Employment Contract Type: Division/Function: Publication ID: Zürich, Zurich, Switzerland Corporate Strategy Regular/Permanent, Full-Time Group Function Corporate Strategy CH54264275_E2 Tasks The Corporate Strategy Associate supports important Group Strategy work by conducting research, executing analyses, deriving insights and conclusions and creating impactful output, e.g. for strategy development, strategic M&A or major group strategy projects. The Corporate Strategy Associate regularly interacts with other group functions or Division-/BU-representatives to drive project work. The Corporate Strategy Associate is expected to be able to prepare and lead working meetings and smaller workshops. - Performs research on key industries, competition and end markets - Compile and analyze business and market indicators to generate hypothesis/business case for new business/growth opportunities, both organic and acquisitive - Build high-level and detailed business cases for key opportunities. Conduct analysis and provide overview of research recommendations regarding key competitive products, market positioning and related metrics to senior management - Scope and plan the underlying analyses that will yield critical answers to key questions for driving growth. Understand the required data set to complete analyses and procure it - Develop extremely high quality work product, i.e. insightful, high impact and error-free, in various output formats 1 Corporate Strategy Associate - Regularly interact with other parts of the organization, e.g. other group functions, Division or Business Unit management team members, Region/Country management team members, as part of conducting strategy projects - Regularly participate in and, depending on project setup, lead and conduct working meetings or workshops with participants from outside the Corporate Strategy team - Occasionally, take the project leadership role for smaller projects and be prepared to drive them proactively and in a results-oriented way with limited guidance from more senior Corporate Strategy team members - Contribute to a culture of new idea generation with regards to strategy projects and proposals Requirements - Bachelor or Master degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field - 3+ years specific business experience (excluding internships) in Management Consulting, Strategic Planning, Business Development, Market Research, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or a related field; significant Power and/or Industrial Automation sector experience and existing understanding of ABB markets and competitive landscape preferred - Demonstrated knowledge/experience in strategic analysis and frameworks. Proven ability to conduct and/or analyze markets/industries, customers and competitors - Demonstrated ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis and financial modeling in a high-quality fashion and proficiency in using the required tools (e.g. advanced Excel knowledge) - Problem structuring and strategic problem solving skills, at least basic corporate finance, accounting and valuation skills (e.g. DCF and multiple-valuation), knowledge of key strategy tools and frameworks - Superior writing and verbal communication skills (English skills mandatory, secondary languages are a bonus), including ability to synthesize and convey complex ideas in story-lined presentations via PowerPoint to key internal/external stakeholders and management - Proactive attitude, self-starter; pragmatic personality with strong bias for action - High degree of adaptability and adept at dealing with ambiguity in an unstructured environment - Ability to interact naturally and professionally with senior management and engage them into constructive, result-oriented discussions - Proven ability to manage smaller projects and drive them to results - Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment - Willingness to challenge and develop the current thinking of the organization Additional Information Interested in joining the team?
