Literacy:
Children will learning about Historical Stories.
Children will look at the features of these and
how a writer creates a historical setting.
Children will also be looking at information
texts and will be using their knowledge in topic
to create their own holiday brochure for a
country in Scandinavia.
Art:
Children will be looking closely at the
famous Norwegian artist, Edvard Munch’s.
Children will be looking at his paintings
such as ’Scream’ and ’Scarry Night’ and
applying his techniques.
Computing: Coding
Children will:
Learn how to use variables to keep track of
the score in a game
Practise using variables to keep track of the

events in your code

SEAL: Getting on and Falling out
Music:
Children will learn how to create, perform
and analyse short descriptive compositions
that combine sounds, movements and
words.
Numeracy:
Children will develop their understanding of
number and the number system, geometry,
statistics, fractions and calculations across the
four different operations. They will improve
mental maths and problem solving skills.
Children will also be learning all of their times
tables this half term. Please support your child
to learn these.
This half term children will have opportunities
to be able to explain how important it is to show
people your friendship.
Children will also discuss their emotions and
how they feel when they get angry. They will
then discuss ideas of how to deal with anger
and how to reduce it.
Children will have opportunities for using
problem solving skills to generate solutions.
RE
Children will be learning about the Hindu Festival
of Diwali and the Christian Festival of Christmas
and the stories behind them.
Geography: European Study– Scandinavia
Children will be focusing on the countries
of Scandiavia – particularly Norway,
looking at where in the world Norway is,
which continent it belongs to and where it
is in relation to the polar regions. Children
will be looking at physical and human
geography in Norway and drawing
comparisons with the UK. They will draw
comparisons by looking at climate and
culture in Norway compared to ours in
Britain. Children will also look at how
Norway’s arctic animals have adapted to
the cold weather conditions to survive.


PE:
Children will be consolidating and improve the
quality of their skills developed in Year 3.
They will do this by improving their ability to
select and apply simple tactics. Also by working
co-operatively in small groups
Swimming will be on Wednesdays and PE on
Thursdays.
The children must have their full P.E kit and
no jewellery.
French:
Children will be learning a new language this half
term. They will start by learning basic greetings
and vocabulary. Children will also be learning
about festival in France.
