Abstract Title The Paleozoic play at Loppa High - Success 30 years after the first well Authorship Harald Brunstad*, Trond Kristensen*, Carl Dons*, Terje Hellem** og Klaus Dittmers*** * ** *** Lundin Norway AS Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS RWE Dea Norge AS 30 years and three phases of exploration after the first exploration well was spudded on the Loppa high the Carbonate play has finally become a success. In 2013 Gohta was discovered in license PL492 by Lundin, Det Norske and Noreco and in 2014 the Alta was proven in the PL609 license by Lundin, Idemitsu and RWE. Additional delineation drilling will be conducted to conclude on commerciality. The Gohta discovery was presented in several exploration related fora in 2014. The current presentation will wrap up the exploration of the Paleozoic play of the Loppa High. It will also give ideas behind the drilling of the Alta prospect, and some reference to the Gohta discovery. Both discoveries were made in structural four way dip closures mapped out at the Base Triassic level and both have been subject to previous drilling, proving oil shows and an active petroleum system at some stage. For both structures it was seemed to be substantial volume potential up dip of the previous wells, which the license groups wanted to investigate, and proved successful. As the Alta and the Gohta discoveries are now being delineated. Another potential occurs up dip from 72206-1 (Obelix) well. This prospect, called Neiden is the next prospect to be drilled by the PL609 licenseship.
