To access the Empty Property Matching Service, visit www.northnorfolk.org and click on Housing, then Empty Homes, then Empty Property Matching Service Many empty properties will be in need of significant repair, renovation or modernisation and will be suited to purchasers who want to undertake a project and potentially add value to a property whilst others may only need minor works or be in need of redecoration. The Empty Property Matching Service introduces those wishing to purchase an empty (residential) property in North Norfolk with those who have an empty property that they want to sell. This service is offered free of charge to owners and prospective purchasers. • • if you are looking to purchase a property, select Available Properties for a list of owners wishing to sell if you have an empty property to sell, select Looking for Properties for a list of prospective purchasers Available Properties A table will display a list of properties with a photo, giving its location and a description including the property type, number of bedrooms, and a guide price. There may also be information about the type or extent of work needed to bring it back into full residential use. If you are interested in this property, click on Request details to submit your contact details – you will then receive an email with the owner’s contact details. If you Request details through the Empty Property Matching Service, you will automatically be offered the option of adding your property search to the website. A ‘filter’ is available on Available Properties to narrow your search to particular property types, price ranges, bedroom size, or locations. To add a property to the Available Properties list, simply click on Owners – you can add your property to this list by clicking here. Once your form is submitted, we will check the details and contact you for a photograph. Your property will be added within 5 working days. You can ask us to remove your details at any time. Looking for Properties A table will display a list of prospective purchasers with the price range they have specified, the location/s they are interested in, and any other requirements (such as parking, garden) and notes which may include information about the type or extent of work they are prepared to undertake to bring a property back into full residential use. If you have a property that you think the potential purchaser will be interested in, click on Request details to submit your contact details – you will then receive an email with the prospective purchaser’s contact details. A ‘filter’ will be available on Looking for Properties when the number of prospective purchasers exceeds what can comfortably be displayed on the table on a single webpage. If you Request details through the Empty Property Matching Service, you will automatically be offered the option of adding your property search to the website. To add your details to the Looking for Properties list, simply click on Purchasers – you can add your property search to this list by clicking here. Once your form is submitted, we may contact you to ensure the details are correct. Your property search will be added within 5 working days. You can ask us to remove your property search at any time. What personal details are collected from me? We require very little personal information from you, and your contact details are only provided to those who are interested in contacting you – your personal details do not appear on the website. This is deliberate – we do not wish to give the opportunity for these details to be misused for the purposes of adverse possession (squatting), vandalism, or harassment. I have seen a property that looks empty, but it is not listed on your website – why? There are more empty properties in North Norfolk than will be shown on the Available Properties list – it is not compulsory for owners to use the Empty Property Matching Service, it merely provides an extra option to owners of empty properties to help to find prospective purchasers. How your data is stored and how it will be used Please note that the information provided by you will be held by North Norfolk District Council in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and related legislation. The information collected will be used for the purpose of reducing the number of empty homes in North Norfolk, but Housing Services may disclose information provided to other departments within North Norfolk District Council and the information may also be used for other purposes where the law allows such as in the prevention of crime, the apprehension or prosecution of offenders, or the collection of any tax or duty.
