About the Camp Who can participate? All players must be between the ages of 8 and 18. Campers will be divided into groups according to age, size, ability and position. When is the camp? One-day clinic: The position-specific clinic will take place Sunday, July 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bethany College’s Bison Field. More information can be found in this brochure. The camp will take place Sunday, July 5 through Thursday, July 9. Overnight Campers must register between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Thomas Phillips Johnson Recreation Center on Sunday, July 5. Campers will be supervised 24 hours a day and will have access to a swimming pool, clean rooms, air conditioning and a safe atmosphere. Day Campers must register at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, and must check in each day by 9:00 a.m. at the Thomas Phillips Johnson Recreation Center. In addition, lights were installed and a new rubberized track surface was put down around the field. Weight Room: The weight room will be used in demonstrations, lectures and supervised free lift times. Fundamentals will be emphasized using position-specific drills instructed by collegiate championship coaches. Campers will take home valuable new techniques, giving them a decisive advantage over their peers. Special teams sessions will be held throughout the camp. Coach Struble has over 30 years of coaching experience, and his 113 career wins are the most in West Virginia Wesleyan History and rank fourth all-time among WVIAC Coaches (WVIAC). Coaches The camp will feature coaches from Bethany College as well as other NCAA and high school coaches. Lectures will be given by the coaches on strength, speed development, nutrition, motivation and the mental aspect of football. Each camper will receive a written evaluation from his position coach at week’s end. The evaluation will list the player’s strengths and weaknesses as well as provide comments about areas of improvement. Campers will also recieve a camp T-shirt and awards will be given out for each age group. Camp Pricing Overnight Campers: $290 ($335 with Clinic**) Day Campers: $190 ($235 with Clinic**) One Day Clinic: $60 Coaches will instruct you in the following areas with proven championship caliber techniques and drills: Quarterbacks: stance, QB/OC exchange, 3-5 step drops, throwing mechanics, ball handling, faking, reading defenses, field leadership, sprint-out passing and option mechanics Running Backs: stance, release, ball handling, ball carrying, running, cutting, pass receiving, blocking Centers: stance, QB/OC exchange, long-snapping, run and pass blocking O-Line: stance, blocking techniques, pulling methods, reaction and recognition of schemes Wide Receivers & Tight Ends: stance, releases, pass patterns, receiving techniques and stalk blocking D-Line & Linebackers: stance, alignment, pursuit, leverage, run and pass responsibilities, reaction, tackling, recognizing and defeating blocking schemes Secondary: stance, alignment, defending the pass, tackling techniques, coverage responsibilities, footwork, defeating the block Kickers: place-kicking, punting, holding, longsnapping Location The Bethany College campus is located on 1,300 scenic acres in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. One hour from downtown Pittsburgh, forty minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport and Washington, Pa. and 30 minutes from Wheeling, W.Va. Each camper will receive a written evaluation and an awards ceremony will be held at 3:25 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Bethany College’s Bison Field.
