Mimi Vaughn is Genesco’s Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance
responsible for all areas of the Company’s financial management. Prior to being appointed to
CFO in 2015, she served as senior vice president of strategy and shared services since 2009. In
this role, she was responsible for strategy development for the Company and for growth
initiatives and acquisitions. She was also responsible for shared services including information
technology, corporate logistics, and human resources. She began her 12-year career at Genesco
in 2003 as vice president of strategy and was promoted to senior vice president in 2006.
Genesco Inc. is a $3 billion Nashville-based specialty retailer that sells footwear,
headwear, sports apparel and accessories in over 2,800 retail stores throughout the U.S., Canada,
the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, principally under the names Journeys, Journeys
Kidz, Schuh, Schuh Kids, Lids, Lids Locker Room, Johnston & Murphy, and on e-commerce
websites. In addition, Genesco sells wholesale footwear under its Johnston & Murphy brand, the
licensed Dockers brand, SureGrip, and other brands.
Prior to joining Genesco, Vaughn was executive vice president of business development
and marketing and acting chief financial officer for Link2Gov Corporation in Nashville, an ecommerce and electronic payment provider.
From 1993 to 1999, she was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, based in
Atlanta. During her tenure at McKinsey, Vaughn advised senior executives and board members
of Fortune 500 companies in developing and implementing growth and performance
improvement strategies, specializing in the consumer and retail sectors both in the U.S. and
abroad. Prior to joining McKinsey, she held various corporate finance positions at Goldman,
Sachs & Co., Wasserstein Perella & Co. Inc. and Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York City.
She received a bachelor of science degree in foreign service and international economics
from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., magna cum laude and a master of business
administration degree from Harvard Business School, in Cambridge, MA, where she graduated
with distinction.
