RSA (Race Strategy Assessment) - Dial in your Finish Time Preparing for an event of any distance takes considerable training time and energy. Every training session you complete should add positively to your fitness and provide continued improvements. Race preparation and strategy is an important part of this preparation. Race Strategy Assessments (RSA) conducted through PEAK Centre, will optimally prepare each client with specific, detailed, and individualized information regarding their expected event finishing time. Your training time is way too valuable to leave to chance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------ART- Race Strategy Assessment (5 km, 10 km, ½ Marathon, Marathon) As part of any individuals’ preparation (whether a beginner who is completing their first race or an advanced athlete looking for a personal best time), there are 3 critical pieces of information that are required for the best race/event strategy preparation: Assessment Data Training Data Assessment Data Race Data Training Data Race Data ART- Race Strategy The results from a PEAK Centre fitness evaluation (Lactate and/or VO2) will provide each individual with their own current and specific training paces/zones (paces/zones are not estimated, they are measured) as well as an individual fuelling strategy. Recent finishing times and distances (within last 12 months) of other races completed provide insight into an individuals’ previous race execution. Training data (daily training activities over time) provide invaluable and specific insight into an individual’s current training paces and distances that have been completed in preparation for their event. 1565 Maple Grove Rd. K2V 1A4 Tele: 613.737.7325 Fax: 613.280.3844 www.peakcentre.ca Utilizing data from one factor above will provide an individual with only very limited information upon which to base a race strategy; utilizing data from two factors above will provide only slightly more basis for race strategy development, but utilizing data from all three factors, will ensure the best possible race strategy and outcome. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Question: How well prepared do you want to be come race day? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preparing for an event is a 4 step process: ART- Race Strategy Training Plan/Event Selection - Setting your training Step #1 goals and training commitment (number of days and duration) is the first step in the training process Prepare - Establish and complete a training schedule and Step #2 specific training workouts, complete with detailed paces, according to your fitness level (training paces should NOT be solely built around your expected/anticipated finishing time; this can lead to over/under training) Race Strategy - Based upon the information from your Step #3 Step #4 recent Assessments, current Races, and daily Training (ART) an individual, detailed, and specific race strategy can be tailored to establish your realistic finishing time Execute - Execute the developed race day strategy (#3) and reach your time/race goals Note: Preparing for a race with only generic paces or estimated finishing time may lead to improper pace selection on race day.
