The player taking the centre pass can play the ball in any direction. f. Teams swap ends at the start of each quarter. g. For free hits, the defending team must be at least three metres from the ball. The attacking team can either pass to a team mate or take a self pass. h. If the free hit is awarded in close proximity to the goal (for either team) it is to be taken roughly ten metres from the baseline. i. If the ball goes off the sideline then the ball turns over to the opposition with a free hit where the ball came off. j. If the ball goes off the baseline it is turned over to the opposition with either a baseline ball for defence or a sideline ball for the attackers. k. A baseline ball is a free hit taken roughly five meters onto the pitch in line with where it went off. l. FOULING- breaking any of these rules will result in the umpire stopping play and awarding a free hit to the opposition. Players cannot kick or stop the ball with their feet to gain any advantage. m. n. o. p. q. r. s. Players are not allowed to lift their sticks or the ball above knee height. Players are not allowed to use the back of the stick to move the ball. Rush Hockey is a non contact sport. When tackling, the stick must contact the ball, not the opponents stick. EQUIPMENT All of the sticks, balls and goals will be provided by Warwick Active. England Hockey recommends that protective items such as shin pads are worn by players whilst taking part in any type of hockey activity including Rush Hockey. SCORING Scoring is simple; you can shoot from anywhere on the pitch. If the ball crosses the baseline between the goalposts and under the cross bar, it’s a goal. u.
