Problem Definition and Goal Setting Role Play – 10 minute version
Session Prep: Bill is a 70 year old who has just learned his prostate cancer has
returned. He is very worried and now is unable to really enjoy anything anymore
because he is preoccupied with his cancer. His goal is to be able to enjoy things
and not think about cancer all the time. He does not know yet how bad the
recurrence is, the final diagnosis is not back yet.
Problem List:
• Sad around grandkids
• Not interested in things
• Can't sleep
• Worried about dying
• Worried about leaving wife behind
