SOUTHERN IOWA FAIR QUEEN/KING – 2013
Rules
QUEEN/KING
1) Musts be a resident of Mahaska County or participant in the Southern Iowa Fair.
2) Must be between the ages of 16 & 21 years of age.
3) Must never have been married or had children. If married during reign, your title goes to the
1st runner up.
4) Must be able to be at the Southern Iowa Fair July 15-20, 2013
a) Need to check in the Fair Office at 8:30 a.m. each morning for Assignments.
5) Queens must be able to be at the State Fair August 8-18, 2013
Contestants will be judged on: CHARM-POISE-PERSONALITY-ATTITUDE-OVERALL APPEARANCELEADERSHIP & CITIZENSHIP and CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR COMMUNITY.
a) Final judging will take place on July 15 at the Fair’s Free Stage at 6:00 p.m.
Contestants may pick up entry forms at the Fair Office, 615 North I Street, any time MondayFriday between 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Entries must be returned to the Fair Office by July 8th
at 4:00 p.m. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
b) Entries must include a billfold size picture of yourself.
c) There will be a meeting of all Queen/King candidates on July 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fair
Office. There will be an opportunity for socializing and hors d’oeuvers will be served.
Although the judging will start at 6:30 p.m., it is imperative that you are there at 6:00 p.m.
to receive final instructions and draw for your interview time. Queen candidates are urged
to bring your shoes that you will be wearing the night of the contest. You will go over to the
stage to practice.
d) Thursday evening, July 11, please wear appropriate attire:
Examples of appropriate attire would include:
Gals: Skirt, Capri’s, Casual Dress
Guys: Shirt & Casual Pants (excluding jeans).
Monday Evening – Formal Attire:
Gals: Formals
Guys: Shirt, Tie, Dress Pants
