Red Raccoon Tabletop Games League!

Red Raccoon Tabletop Games League!
Welcome gamers to the first Red Raccoon Tabletop Games League! As the premiere game store
in Central Illinois we feel it is our duty -- nay, our pleasure! - to organize and host great games and
events for all of you. This also couples with our love of building the gaming community and encouraging
others to make new friends that share the same passion for gaming. With that being said, Red Raccoon
Games will be running a Table Top Games League across all of 2016!
And there will be prizes! Both monthly prizes, and yearly prizes!
How League Play Will Work
Each month you may connect with other league players and play 3 rounds of the League Game
of the Month. Your score will be based on if you place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in the game – we’ll add your first
3 scores together for your monthly total.
Red Raccoon Games will be making Monday nights in 2016 our official Tabletop Games League
Night! From 6:00 -10:00 pm League members are welcome and encouraged to get their matches in for
the month.
But, hey, we’re realistic and understand things come up. So you may also connect with other
players by joining our newly created Red Raccoon Tabletop Games League page on Facebook
(https://www.facebook.com/groups/936938976360357/ ), and arrange to meet up at the store for a
game any time that works for you all, but the games must be played at Red Raccoon Games.
League games must have 4 league members to count towards your score (and only 4, even if the
game plays more).
If possible, you should always choose to play your games versus people you have not yet played
that month. Playing all 3 games with the same group is prohibited unless there is no other way for you
to get your games in for the month. Please check in at the register and talk with them before playing
additional games with the same group.
You may play more than 3 games in the month to help other members get their games
completed, but only your first 3 scores will count. It is still in your best interest to score as high as
possible – if you try to sandbag, you are giving someone else points and they might get the prizes
instead of you! In a pinch, Red Raccoon Games staff will join in to help out.
Games to be Played
Each month one game will be selected as the League Game of the Month, and we will be
announcing what the games are on a quarterly basis. To start off the league, our Q1 games will be:

January: Catan (the game formerly known as Settlers of Catan)


February: Dice City
March: Cash & Guns
How Scoring Works
With your other league members, you will play 1 full round of that month’s game. When you
are done, each person will print their name and sign the match slip form, and put down what place they
finished. Match slips will then we turned in at the counter. Make sure a RRG staff member accepts your
form and signs it as valid!
The scores for each placement in each match work like this:
1.
2.
3.
4.
1st Place – 9 Points
2nd Place – 7 Points
3rd Place – 5 Points
4th Place – 3 Points
Then you do this 2 more times for your other 2 games!
Now, because this is a Tabletop Games League, there is another way you can earn points. On a
regular basis, we will be holding store tournaments for specific board games. You can earn 3
participation points for playing in each of these board game tournaments! Upcoming tournaments we
know about right now are Ticket to Ride, Cash n Guns, Machi Koro, 7 Wonders, King of Toyko, King of
New York. There will probably be more during the year!
Prizes
Who doesn’t love a good prize structure? 100% of monthly dues are being given back to you, the
players, in the form of two different prize structures. We kind of like you, you know?
At the end of each MONTH we will see who has the highest score in that month’s game, and
they will receive a special prize from Red Raccoon Games. Prizes will be determined based on the
numbers of players for that month. At the end of the YEAR the player with the highest point total will
receive the grand prize! That is 13 great prizes available to you and all you have to do is something you
already love!
In the event of any ties, be that monthly or for the yearly prize, there were be a game off. Jamie
or Michael will pick a game for anyone tied to play, and the winner takes the prize!
Ok, I am Convinced. How and When Do I Sign Up!?
We will be taking sign-ups on January 6th and cost is $5 per month!
In order to sign-up we will request your name, that you become a member of the Facebook group or
provide an email address, and $5 for the first month. After that, you are good to go.
FAQs
Is there a limit to games I can play?
There is no limit, but you can only score your first three games.
How will scoring be tracked?
We will be providing match slips that will allow everyone to sign and to write (legibly) what rank they
achieved. We will be saving these and updating our spreadsheets based on that information. We are
going to make the publically available via Facebook and our website.
Can we track other players’ points?
Certainly. We will also be providing a weekly update on the League’s Facebook page so everyone can
see their progress and how each game was scored.
I already have my three games in for the month. Can I sit with other players to fill out the fourth spot
and try and beat them to keep their scores low?
I am going to allow this, but only if it is to fill in empty spots to make the game official.
What happens if someone is caught cheating?
Mob justice! Social shaming! Don’t do it!
The one big concern we have it friends cheating and throwing points to other friends. If we catch
anyone doing that, all participating people will be banned.
What if I don’t know how to play a League game?
If you do not know how to play a League game one of our expert staff members will be more than happy
to help you learn the ins and outs of the games before that month begins.
Are Red Raccoon Games staff allowed to play in the League?
Yes, they are allowed to play in the game. They all love board games, and it seemed unfair to keep them
out. However, if a RRG Staff member wins a prize, that prize must be donated to the charity of their
choice.
Does Jamie cheat at Carcassonne?
Yes, yes he does.
