EP3757 Gr. K–1 EP3758 Gr. 1–2 Sight Words Splat! Practice for 75 splat-tastic sight words! For 2 to 6 players Object of Game: To be the first player to flip over all of his or her Sight Words cards by matching the words called. Before You Play: The cards are divided into three color-coded decks of 50 Sight Word cards and 25 calling cards each. Each deck provides practice for 25 sight words. For optimal play, use one colored deck per 4 students. You may wish to combine two colored decks if you are playing with more students. Shuffle the cards you have chosen to play with, then shuffle the coordinating calling cards. Depending on the ability level of your students, each student can play with either 4 or 6 cards. After playing with one colored deck of cards, continue playing with the next colored deck. Directions (3–6 players) 1. Deal 4 or 6 cards to each student. Instruct students to place cards in a grid with the words face up in front of them on the desk or table. 2. Using the calling cards, read each word out loud one at a time, allowing enough time for students to look over their cards. (For younger students, read the word and hold up the card for students to see.) 3. If the student has a card with a matching word, he or she says, “Splat!” and flips that card over. If the student has more than one card in front of him or her with the matching word, he or she flips over both matching cards. 4. When a student has flipped over all of his or her cards, the student says, “Super Splat!” 5. Have the student read his or her cards back to you. If the words are correct, the player wins the round! Options 1. To play with two students, or for one-on-one practice, remove the duplicate cards from one colored deck so you have 25 sight words left in the deck. Play as above. 2. Create a memory game with the cards by removing pairs of words from the decks, mixing them up, and placing them face down on a table in a grid. visit us at www.edupress.com Sight Words included in Splat!
