Dear Sir or Madame:
Isn’t it funny how my favorite casual hobby could turn out to be my most valuable professional
resource? I love your games so much that I would be proud to work full-time on a volunteer
basis even as a USC alumnus who earned a master’s degree. It would be my dream come true
to see what is inside those gates at Blizzard Entertainment’s new headquarters located near the
Irvine Spectrum, and experience how the world’s greatest computer game company operates.
I live in Laguna Niguel and can be at your door in a heartbeat. I grew up near your
headquarters, and have been going there since it was a strawberry field where my family would
watch the Blue Angels fly over. I was there at the Fry’s Electronics store in Fountain Valley
during opening night of World of Warcraft, where I met your developers. I actively participated
on Blizzard’s suggestion forum before World of Warcraft was first released to help introduce the
druid’s storm crow form -- and am happy to see it will fly over all of Azeroth after the Cataclysm.
I want to serve Blizzard Entertainment any way I can, although I am applying as a game tester
since I would enjoy this position the most.
It brings me great pleasure to satisfy all of the Blizzard game tester requirements:
 Passion for games – I am willing to work full-time on a volunteer basis for the opportunity
to make the best of the best computer games even more extraordinary.
 High level of motivation – My master’s degree, which is the highest of my three degrees,
exemplifies my disposition to stay motivated when faced with a challenge.
 Willing to work long and odd hours – I often work on my computer and play my games all
night until the sun comes up. You might need to ask me to go home once I really get into
a game. Go ahead and send me a text message at 1:00 a.m., and ask me to come over
there to play games with you all night, to see if I am for real. I will be there!
 Ability to follow directions – The organizations I grew up with demanded strong discipline,
such as the Boy Scouts, Catholic high school, ROTC, and Lambda Sigma Pi fraternity.
 Good communication skills – My resume, game analysis, and this cover letter serve as
evidence of good communication. I can communicate even better at our interview.
 Strong work ethic – I enjoy playing games and writing so much, I hesitate to call it work.
But I do spend a great deal of time working on my own projects lately, and am eager to
work as part of a team again.
Please contact me by text message or email to set up an interview at your Irvine headquarters.
I should let you know in advance that I am deaf, and lost my hearing at the age of 22 in 1999.
So I will bring a pen and pad of paper to write with you. I can be there just about anytime.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
With kindest personal regards,
Daniel E. Knӧdel
