MOVE CAPTAINS ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES A Move Captain should be there to answer questions, coach your team on what needs to happen the days leading up to the move, and what their responsibilities are in preparing for move day. Below are questions a Move Captain should be prepared to answer What day and what time are we moving? When do I need to start packing? When do I need to have my area packed by? Where do I get packing materials? What do I pack? What does not get packed? How do I pack? How do I label my moving totes? What is being moved, what is not being moved? How do I disconnect and label my computer equipment? If I’m not able to disconnect my equipment will someone assist me? What if I have planned time-off the day or week of the move? Can I pack my desk before I leave or will someone pack it for me? When can I show up at the new building to unpack? Where do I park and what hours can I access the new building? When do I need to have everything unpacked by? What if I have planned time-off the day or week of the move? Can I unpack my desk when I get back or will someone unpack it for me? What do I do with my empty packing materials? What do I do if I’m missing items at destination: Totes, Computer Equipment? Don’t panic. These are simple questions with easy answers. You’ll likely get asked most of these questions once if not several times. As an informed Move Captain you will be right there ready with answers, there to help your team make this a smooth and easy transition.
